Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

Christ applies redemption as well!

It delivers us from this present evil world ?

What does ? The death of Christ, the giving of Himself for us Gal 1:4

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

The purpose is here stated as to why Christ gave himself for our [believers, His Body the Church]sins, its so that, in order that, he might deliver us from the present evil world.

The conjunction that hopos means:

/hópōs ("so that") is stronger than simple "that," because it emphasizes the method (qualities, prerequisites) involved to accomplish the objective (purpose) at hand. https://biblehub.com/greek/3704.htm

To deliver us from this present evil world. We weren't believers prior to the deliverance, but believing is an outcome of having been delivered from the world. Remember Paul says later that it was by the Cross that:

Gal 6:14

14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Now lets look at the word deliver in Gal 1:4

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

This word deliver is an interesting word, its the greek compound word exaireó its ek or ex:

from, from out of
Usage: from out, out from among, from, suggesting from the interior outwards.

And the word haireó :

to take, choose
Usage: I choose, prefer.

This is the ideal of election,

so it is rendered

to take out, to deliver
Usage: I take out, remove; sometimes (mid): I choose, sometimes: I rescue.

hairéomai, "personally choose, prefer") – properly, remove completely ("totally out from"), i.e. bring into a "complete rescue (full removal)."

[1807 (eksairéō) emphasizes total removal ("wholly out from"). This refers to a complete rescue, bringing a person into full deliverance.]

It reminds me as how God rescued and removed lot from judgment

Now this deliverance is Salvation in every facet, and its not according to the will of man, but according to the will of God Gal 1:4

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

The will of God our Father, which means He was our Father before we were delivered, and serves to merciful motive why we were delivered, for Hes our Father by election in Christ first and foremost !

The atoning work of Christ blesses us and turns us away from our sins Acts 3:25-26

25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

26
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Now even though Peter was speaking to jews at the time, this blessing wasnt limited to them, hence we read in vs 25 it stems from the Abrahamic Covenant which included the Gentiles.

"the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed."

Paul uses the same speech in speaking of the Gospel to the gentiles Gal 3:8

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, iniquities.

So being turned from ones iniquities is a by product of the Abrahamic promise from God "iniquities" So the blessing isnt for the jews only, though they would be the first to experience the blessing of it. 69

So being turned from ones iniquities is a by product of the Abrahamic promise from God "iniquities" So the blessing isnt for the jews only, though they would be the first to experience the blessing of it.

This is also the end in view by the redemptive death of Christ Titus 2:14

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

It accomplished their perfection forever. Heb 10:14

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

This perfection doth includes their perfect justification before God!

Christ death alone accomplished this perfection and secured unto them the Sanctification of the Spirit and remission of sins Heb 10:16-17

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Christs death ensures for all whom He died Spiritual Life to serve the Living God !

Heb 9:12-14

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The writer of Hebrews here in showing the superiority of the sacrifice of Christ and His blood over that of sacrificial animal blood, which did produce some effects such as " sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:" HOW MUCH MORE will the sacrificial blood of Christ purge the conscience from dead works, for those He died and effects them unto serving the Living God. This service unto the Living God cant be done by a spiritually dead sinner, hence denoting Spiritual life shall be given.

The word serve in Heb 9:14 is the greek word latreuó and does mean to worship

Its the word Paul used here Phil 3:3

For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

The circumcision here Paul means has nothing to do with physical circumcision, but circumcision of the heart by the Spirit Rom 2:28-29

28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

The death of Christ shall effect the circumcision that is of the heart, in the Spirit so that those Christ died for shall serve/worship the Living God. This comes with the death of Christ. So anyone that never comes to serving the Living God through the Spirit, Christ couldn't have died for them, lest there was a defect in His death and its effects its promised to effect.

Those who teach that people Christ died for still wind up dead in sin, unregenerate in unbelief teach against Christ and His Blood. 70

The virtue of Christs death !

It was by His death that the old testament saints received remission of their sins, Hence Heb 9:15

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

This was indicated when Moses and Elijah spoke with Lord about His death, These two perhaps being representative of the Law and the Prophets. Lk 9:30-31

Old testament saints had an interest in the death of Christ and what it accomplished.

One of the accomplishments of Christs death is that it resulted in issuing forth a seed. Isa 53:10

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

You see "making His soul an Offering for sin" speaks of His death, which results in seeing His seed, or His posterity spiritually. The same is the testimony of Christ Himself here Jn 12:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

The corn of wheat which falls into the ground and dies is Christ soul being made an offering for sin, and when He dies brings forth fruit which coincides with seeing His seed. 70

Made Righteous by His Faithfulness/Obedience !

Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

As the Surety of His People, His Sheep, His Suretyship obedience/faithfulness consiteth in these two regards for them #1 The debt they owed to perfect obedience to the law, precepts of God and #2 and the debt they owed to the violation of Gods Law, hence the suffering and penalty due. 72

Christs death was a perfect redemptive work, hence He was brought from the dead, and all the members of His Body, His Church or His Sheep, whose sins He bare, they are freely Justified through that redemption which is in His Blood Rom 3:24

24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

He was raised again from the dead because of their Justification Rom 4:25

25 who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

His Death accomplished their Justification before God ! 73

It brings many Sons to Glory !

Another accomplishment of the death of Christ, it brings many sons to Glory Heb 2:9-10

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Folks the every man here in this context who Christ tasted death for, are by that, being brought to Glory, that is every man He died for in each successive generation and from each ethnic group. If someone Christ died for doesn't be brought to eternal glory, something failed in His death, which of course can never be the case !

Christs death for them He died for brings about effects, applies healing/spiritual salvation 1 Pet 2:24

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

By Christs suffering unto death for His Sheep, Gods Elect, He satisfied for them Gods Justice, and hence by that are entirely discharged, acquitted of all their sins, even forgiven. The word healed iaomai means:

I heal, generally of the physical, sometimes of spiritual, disease

to make whole i. e. to free from errors and sins, to bring about (one's) salvation:

The design/purpose Christ dying for the Sins of the elect, was that they should be made the righteousness of God in Him 2 Cor 5:21. This is the free gift of righteousness Paul writes of here Rom 5:17-18. By this Christ is their Righteousness 1 Cor 1:30;Jer 33:16, all for whom He died are complete in Him. Its being a enemy to Christ to say people He died for arent made the righteousness of God in Him !

It purged our sins ! Heb 1:3

3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

This answers an old test prediction Ps 79:9

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

Ps 65:3

Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

And its for this cause non for whom Christ died, His Sheep can have any charge laid against them, no sin imputed ! 73

Everyone Christ died for/shed His Blood for are made priest unto God Rev 1:5-6

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 74

Life from Christ !

One of the effects of the death of Christ for everyone He died for, is that through it, they He died for should live, both spiritually and eternally 1 Jn 4:9-10

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

The fact is, those whom Christ was sent to be the propitiation for their sins [1 Jn 2:1-2] it was so that they should live through[on account of] Him.

If one has their sins propitiated by Christ, they shall live because of it. Yet not all shall live, so Christ could not have been the propitiation for their sins ! 75

Life from Christ !

One of the effects of the death of Christ for everyone He died for, is that through it, they He died for should live, both spiritually and eternally 1 Jn 4:9-10

So Christ through His Propitiating death gives life to the world, not a possibility of life Jn 6:33

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world The world of the Elect or of His Sheep.

Those Christ died for, and rose again in behalf of are never going to be condemned, and by His death alone for them it accomplished their Justification before God ! Rom 4:25

25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

The word justification here dikaiósis means:

the act of pronouncing righteous, acquittal
Usage: acquittal, justifying, justification, a process of absolution.

Its the very same word Paul used in Rom 5:18 for Justification of life, so Christ death for the elect resulted in their Justification of life, which the Resurrection of Christ attests to. 75

Christs Death or Offering accomplished the Eternal Perfection of all those He died for Heb 10:14

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
