Christ in you...

It's a little difficult trying to follow you here.. are you saying that it's both the flesh and the Spirit working together ?

Surely! The flesh is dieing and is not Born again. The Born Again Mind is to control our body. Keep it in WORKING 'LOVING' order as best we can for Christ's service! This is our reasonable service! It is what tel's of our fervent Love relationship with our Savior. Rev. 3:16's works!

Never are we to let the body control the Born Again mind. Paul stated that he brought his body into subjection least he be a castaway! (bottom/line.. you can look it up) This all comes from the inner heart!

So the LOVE for CHRIST has us wanting to toss out all worldy elments that are detrimental to us & others (family & young'ones as well!) immoral dress, makup, excessive expense in anything, movies, dancing, makeup, jewelry, diet, smoking, drugs, tatoo's + much ealse! And our FAITH will follow all of the LEADING of the Holy Spirit's Inspired Words of Christ in the complete Word! Matt.4:4-2Tim. 3:17.

And if not?? we do have a guilty conscience with out real piece! Unless we have passed the Heb. 6:6 point of NO RETURN! The End result of the Rev, 17:1-5's full cup ones with no conscience.

I think to have Christ in you is to believe he was sent by God as the Image of God so that we might know Him. And this Christ endured much suffering and torment at the hands of both religious and secular authorities, and yet forgave them who crucified him saying forgive them, they know not what they do. If you believe God's love is on display on the cross, a love that will sacrifice itself for you, then you too can find faith to perservere in this love. And you too will bear other's sins, turning the other cheek, returning good for evil, praying for those who despise you and loving your enemies. This is to share in the cup of Christ.

One of the questions I am interested in is this..

How many people believe that God is making YOU better.. versus how many people believe that they are not good and that God considers YOU dead and now your life is in Christ...

no, NO Good is found in me that will get me to heaven. But when he christ came i died. and he lives in me.:yes

I think you have been clear in stating that Jason.. and thanks for that. I'm not so sure from some of the other responses.. and it's an important piece of the gospel imo.

odd, its the core of how we get to heaven. if he abideth not in him. we cant be his at all.Jesus spoke about if we abide him, we have the father as well.

NEW wine must be put into new skins...

I also like to ask folks who they believe that the OLD MAN and the NEW MAN are in the scriptures.. ie, put off the OLD MAN who is corrupt according to deceitful lusts and put on the NEW MAN who is created in righteousness and true holiness..

I think that the OLD MAN is me.. who I am naturally according to being born through my parents.

I think that the NEW MAN is Christ in me.. and that He was born in me miraculously by the power of the Holy Spirit after trusting in Christ, and after believing the gospel.

This imo accounts for the war within the members of the Christian.. the flesh and the Spirit being contrary to one another etc..

I am an avid reader of the Word of God and i think that when we ask for forgiveness from God the father and receive the the gift of the Spirit purchased by the blood of Christ that spirit begins to teach us by the Word of God the truth of That is only deserned by the Spirit given onto us by God the father. It feeds us the sincere incorruptible seed of the Word and inables us to grow and learn how to walk in the new life that we have been given. I do not think that you are perfect over night Because Paul in the Word said that he was not saying that he had already obtain but he was forgeting those things which were behind and was pressing forward to the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. So i think they we receive forgiveness and receive the Spirit which teaches us to bring every thought and imagination which exalts itself against God into captivity so that they can be cast down and so that the truth of the Word can live in us. In short the old sinful nature is crusified so that the Righteous nature of Jesus Christ may shine forth in our lives.

Nice commentary here imo.. although allow me to ask if you believe that it IS "Christ in you".. spiritually of course.

How about the OLD MAN and the NEW MAN in scripture.. who do you think that these are referring to ?

You said it well. :thumbsup

Re: NEW wine must be put into new skins...

I hope so.. although it seems to be that many Christians are led to believe that God is making THEM better rather than reckoning them dead and having life IN HIM.. in Christ..

Interesting! Openly stated by your posting that 2 Peter 2:18-22 has these ones supposedly having their 'body controling' the Born Again Mind' And are 'LED'??

Surely we all know that it is the 'mind' that has the body do its work??? And what the body does the mind is its CONTROLING 'Spiritual computor!'

Rom. 8:1 finds NO Condemnation to those 'who are IN CHRIST' & then we see verse 14 of being LED OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! Yet, this post seems to say that the human body still has the Born Again [MIND] subject to its 'past' carnal desires! Best read 1 Cor. 3:16-19 + what Inspiration tel's us in the carnal hearts PAST/TENSE of 1 Cor. 6:9-11.. if they have been washed of course?

Are you implying that you're not subject to the flesh Elijah.. ? Are you without sin..?

What think ye...

So back to one of the main points of this thread..

Question;

IS God making YOU better.. is that how you see the Christian life.. or is it more along the lines of there's no remedy for my flesh and that the only recourse for the Christian is to put off the old life and put on the new..?

Nice commentary here imo.. although allow me to ask if you believe that it IS "Christ in you".. spiritually of course.

How about the OLD MAN and the NEW MAN in scripture.. who do you think that these are referring to ?

I think the Old Man is the nature that is present in a person before they come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour which is a sinful nature that is controled by the lust of the flesh. In this state we are in a state of spiritual death because of the sinful nature. Now the New Man to me is when through faith we have believed the account that the Word of God has given of Jesus and have accepted him and received the holy Spirit of promise Which in tern will crusify the sinful nature of our flesh and replace it with the righteous nature that is Christ that is now taught to us by the spirit which he has given us. Therefore becoming a New creature in Christ Jesus and created in his very image.

I would agree..

The OLD MAN is me..

The NEW MAN is Christ in me..

Christians have a dual nature.. they have their old Adamic nature according to the flesh and they also have the divine nature of Christ living within the same lump of clay.. this accounts for the conflict within... the flesh warring with the Spirit etc..

Share your thoughts on what it means to have Christ in you..

I believe Christ is God in flesh. God can read our thoughts and place his thoughts into our minds. This is how he communicates with us.

Christ comes and moves inside us by Holy Spirit when we come to faith to believe in Him. Christ in us is a literal event that takes place at the moment of salvation. We become a new creature in Christ, and as we obey His word, we grow and change to become more and more like Him to the world.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16 NLT
Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?

We are made adequate by the seal of His approval!
