Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (KJV)
I see two wonderful Truth's here in Galatians 2:20. This has been one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible.
First, notice that We have been crucified with Jesus. The result of that mystery is that now I have Someone else living in me. it's the Son of God, in the presence of His Holy Spirit. O the wonder of that transfer from the cross to share the throne of His Father to, thru His Spirit, to indwell our very lives.
This verse tells me, that since the Holy Spirit lives in me because of my new birth experience by believing and trusting in Christ Jesus as my Master Owner, Jesus lives in me. Now, what would be the greatest action of our lives as a result of this change in us? It, IMO, would be a great love that I would extend to my Brothers and Sisters in the Lord.
Now, if in some way, I offend or disrespect my Brother or Sister, in reality, I'm offending and disrespecting Jesus Christ Who lives in that person. That reality is so often neglected, especially in Forums like this one when heated debates go on when there is a disagreement of theology. Friends, this ought not to be....
1John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
The second wonderful Truth is...I live by the faith of the Son of God. Hey, I don't have, in myself, very much faith. So, what happens when great faith is needed on my part to call upon my Heavenly Father for a miracle? The answer is in a close examination of the wording of this verse. "I live by the faith of the Son of God".
Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (ESV)
Notice the difference in the KJV and the ESV. The KJV has the correct translation because it puts the definite article "the" before "faith" so that means it reads as I live by THE faith of THE Son of God. Where as the ESV and many other translations read, I live by faith in the Son of God.
What am I saying? I have little faith as a human. BUT, Jesus has all faith and gives it as a gift. That all started when I wanted to be saved, I received the gift of faith from the grace of God to believe in Jesus.
So my friends. When we disagree with a Brother or Sister on this great Forum, lets keep in mind that, not only is Christ in me, and listens what come out of our hearts and typing, and He also is in the one we are corresponding with. We really should be very careful how we respond to that other person because we are also addressing Jesus Who is in that other person.
