According to this chapter, marriage in general IS immoral by nature although acceptable by God as a better of two options....

Huh?

God created marriage. Where does the teaching that it is IMMORAL come from?

1Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.[a] 2But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.

8Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. 9But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

32I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairsâ€â€how he can please the Lord. 33But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this worldâ€â€how he can please his wife 34and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this worldâ€â€how she can please her husband. 35I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.

38So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does even better.

he's completely not a Christian. buddhist for a matter of fact.

A doctor at the hospital here is a Buddhist and he says, "The Buddhist religion was good enough for Jesus Christ, and it's good enough for me." There are remarkable similarities between authentic Christianity and Buddhism.

Sorry, but that's garbage. Jesus is the Lord God Himself! He has nothing to do with this Buddha clown!

Since when does the wisdom of a doctor make more of an impact on someone that the actual Word of God?

Sheesh!

Ahhh... Alabaster I do agree with your last post for the most part (Now way off topic), BUT you cannot follow the Bible blindly... Would you stone your daughter to death if she was not a virgin on her wedding bed???? (please please please!!!! actually answer my question or address this because I am VERY interested in your response... thank you)

Deuteronomy 22:20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl's virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you.

The Bible is very large and very complex, it took thousands of years to write... One should read it and think about it, one should know it well and strive to follow it as God would have liked. One should know the whole Bible and the whole story, as well as, the context in which each chapter is written. That is why they call it Bible STUDY... It is not about compromise, it is about finding the truth as God would have wanted it, and He helps you greatly with the Word and with your own conscious. I'm sorry it is not as simple as you think it is, but that is just how it is. Again you did not address the verses that I spend time finding so the OP could further learn about her situation... instead you just wrote "image"... And I have no idea what that means. Anyways, good luck

I can follow the bible by the leading of the Holy spirit. There is no other way to do it.

It took hundreds of years to write.

Yes, context is important. The Holy Spirit teaches that also.

What scripture did you find so important that I omitted? The post with the passage on Paul speaking on marriage? I was scratching my head wondering why you wopuld paste that in response to my questioning why marriage is considered IMMORAL.

Of course it isn't! Marriage is created and sanctioned by God Himself!

I never said any of that. You do not honor Christ with cruel attacks on others.

Like who? Buddha?

Who's attacking people? Your quote was inane.

What about Buddha?

Your post was a cruel attack made by you. to say it is "inane" is only an exercise of name calling which indicates you have no argument otherwise and choose to bully rather than engage another.

yes, i agree totally with alabaster. the very fact that one takes it so easily bout buddhism beng good enuf shows that the doc doesnt noe wat he's really believing in. most probably bcoz of his educational background due to being a doctor-- he mz have trusted science so much tat any religion wud do.

but no, God is God and there is non other than Jesus.

and yes, ministers or preachers do fall as they are only jz humans with the same weaknesses we all face. but by God's grace will they repent and chg fr their ways.
which means that we as the xtian community shd not despise them but support them in prayer for they are God's ppl too.

m a protestant by the way

It's amazing how some peaple can so easily step in it. The Doctor about which I was talking (I am an ER RN) was born in another country where Buddhism is the majority faith and spent some time in a Buddhist Monastary prior to medical school.

If one believes people from other faiths should convert to Christianity you can't generally induce that by insulting them.

Surely you must have quotes that demonstrate Jesus Christ, rather than Buddha in this forum? Thanks.

Not following? Demonstrate? Is the a verb used for some process in the more esoteric churches? Sprechen sie Anglais?

Woooo there, I never said I despise preachers (even the one that got caught looking at porn on the church computer), I merely will not give any respect to a preacher merely because he is a preacher. Like any other person in the world of any religion, or lack thereof, a person earns my respect by being a good, intelligent person first. And by good, I mean good in the very base sense of the word: person who is true to himself and who strives to help others or at least be good to other people. After that I'll listen to whatever else they have to say with respect. I disrespect a large number of preachers because they are not true to themselves or others, although there are definitely very many good ones like the one I spoke of earlier, and the first preacher at our church as a kid. And yes I respect a good Buddhist monk infinitely more than I will ever respect a bad Christian priest. Although I would not follow the teachings of a priest of any other religion, I will listen to them and respect them if they deserve it.

I'm sorry but I hold all preachers to a much higher standard and expect them to be a better, more self-controlled person than myself. Watching porn on a CHURCH COMPUTER is not self control by any sense of the word (I might be easier on him if it were privately in his own home... MIGHT, but church computer is absurd). He deserves less respect from me than a criminal, because at least most criminals do not try to teach other people. He was a bad example and damaged the lives of many people, and drove many people from the church (including myself)...

And if we want to get back on topic, could someone address the verse I posted about how a believing spouse sanctifies an unbelieving spouse as well as their children?????????????

Ok back to Alabaster and when we were on topic: that chapter (read it over) describes that marriage is maybe not immoral, but is not really a good thing. It describes that marriage takes away your time from Christ and that you should only marry because you do not want to "burn with passion". This burning is sexual desire i would guess, and in general sexual desire is seen as immoral in the Bible. Marriage is the better than having sex outside of marriage, but marriage is not the best thing to do. Read the chapter and you should get the same message. Not to say that Christians should not marry... of course, but mastering your desires is better so that marriage is not needed. I am definitely not that strong of a person though.

Marriage is always a good thing to those called to it! God knows that when people are married, their time and attention is divided. Paul does not mean that marriage is problematic in any way. He was simply speaking from his own view that to be single, one has no encumbrence on his time and attention given to God. Married people have responsibilities to each other and family. Singles don't.

That is all.

OK.. now could we get on track and discuss the verse that says a believing partner will cleanse his or her unbelieving spouse?
