im just wondering how this supposedly Christian movie so many churches are bragging about managed to never mention the name of Jesus once? sure, it had good life lessons, but why did they intentionally avoid using the name of Jesus or any reference to him? they only mentioned God. if according to revelation 19:10, "the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy," then i have to say this movie was not an inspired utterance from God.
if someone came into that movie asking, “How do I become saved?†they might have left with a thousand different answers. “I need to go to church and read my Bible.†or “I need to be nice to kids at school.†or “I need to quit having premarital sex.†nothing to give anyone any faith in Christ was ever mentioned.
what bothers me more is that i know why they left out the name of Jesus: they wanted to avoid sounding preachy. they wanted to be "hip" with the youth. well, if you ever feel that you have to hide the name of Jesus to preach your gospel, then your gospel isnt worth preaching.
this humanism, "live a good life and hope that you get into heaven" stuff needs to stop. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. that movie went out of its way to deny Christ. i dont think it ever even showed a Bible, but rather some new-age devotions. i dont care how "feel-good" the movie was, ultimately they denied the Word of God any place in that movie.
anyone think im being overboard?
