Christianity & Christmas

I can see the apparent stop on the monitor, whether of not I as an untrained observer of the night sky would catch this is questionable. I'm proficient at finding the Big Dipper.

However, the Magi were trained observers of the night sky, and they traveled from a land based location east of Jerusalem noticing something extremely unique about this star which would cause them to travel to the Temple Gate and ask King Herod to see his newborn baby.

And according to Scripture, the star stopped its motion over Bethlehem.

Seems like sheep got the limelight whether Christ could have been born in December or not. Normally, sheep are not kept out in Judea in the cold, wet rainy season of December. (Ezra 10:9). I mean, who wants to live out in the fields at night under those conditions? However, although I don't believe he was born December 25th, I am the first to admit that the sheep are only circumstantial evidence. Sometimes they may be out if the weather is such that its a dryer time or warmer, so it's foolish to use this to prove Christ's birth one way or another because we do not know what the weather conditions were like. It's just that it's likely (not definite) that he was not born in December because of normally keeping sheep under shelter.

Rather, I go by what the bible teaches. John wrote Revelation as inspired by Christ. (It's really the Revelation of Jesus Christ). Revelation 12:1 answers what time of year he was born. Those of us who know God's message in the stars understand this symbolism as overlapping with astronomical signs and conditions as well as explaining what was happening. Most theologians can see that the sign in heaven deals with the birth of Christ, and the Dragon as played out by Herod. Prophecy oftentimes has several fulfillments, but it does deal here with his birth. However, they missed the astronomical alignments.

So, what does it teach? The woman was clothed with the sun. There's only one woman constellation that the sun passes through and that's Virgo the Virgin. The moon was under her feet. That's in Libra. This only happens at the Feast of Trumpets. That's when the birth was. On the Gregorian calendar that corresponds to mid-September. The Dragon's tail swept a third of the stars. Again, astronomically, that is code for the constellation Draco which from the pole encompasses a third of the stars (in right ascension). These descriptions clearly relate to the constellations, and the same constellations in turn told of the same bible story (e.g. a virgin will conceive). So by their position in the story, it gives the time of his birth.

Without going into detail in this post, I believe the star of Bethlehem would not be the planets, as that's several "stars" The bible speaks of a singular star. I believe this was possible a nova in the constellation next to Virgo: Coma the Infant (the "desired") which at that time passed directly over Bethlehem. The problem with planets is that their positions and what they mean are subject to interpretation and that borders on pagan astrology. You get all sorts of planetary theories and each person thinks they are right in their interpretation, so it tells us nothing. It entertains us without leaving any trail of certainty, that's all.

we used to cut our tree until i saw this.. :oops

Jeremiah 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

That's the one JW's point to for not doing Christmas.

Here's another video for our entertainment. This is Wiccan. See if you(all) don't agree the Christmas "decorations" are the same. At 0:30 is "mother and child" theme i.e. "the lady and the horned one". and "our lady is the goddess". 0:35 shows a pentagram, associated with Halloween, and at 0:40 their version of "Santa".

It's scary. I'm not tryin' to be a scrooge, but let's get real. And don't try to put Christ in this to take it over. Christ can't overshadow this abomination.

Your not scrooging anything Tim this and other abominations like it will be destroyed at Christs second coming..

Nimrod....

Nimrod vs Santa (a picture speaks a 1000 words)....

This is rather silly and is also fallacious if it is being used to show that Santa is somehow related to Nimrod and/or that Christmas is pagan. A picture can only speak a thousand words if it's being truthful and I suspect that this one is not.

this is a fruitless debate, Christians celebrate Christmas to honor God and to give thanks to Father God for sending Yeshua to be born in a feeding trof and to honor our Christ for leaving the right hand of Father God to become homeless in order to put on flesh that he would become the perpitiation of the sins of the world. Did Christmas originate on December 25th to do away with a pagan holiday undoubtedly so but I don't care because I am worshiping the Lord Jesus for coming to us to be our lord and King of our lives
Christmas is about observing the birth of Christ and if the seccular world have a problem with that it is their problem not mine but if they think I am going to be politically correct by wishing people Happy holidays instead of wishing people a Merry Christ Mas then they are sadly mistaken
number one I am not a politican and number two I am a big ol no body who loves the Lord Jesus, period

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Ho Ho Ho:wave2

Just what are you trying to say with these pictures? Atheists do this sort of thing all the time, thinking it disproves Christianity.

In this case, atheists are correct, but they are not disproving Christianity, but disproving traditions (although they oftentimes confuse Christianity with traditions admittedly). But we don't mean any malice. Just having some harmless fun poking fun at the decorations, not maligning Christ in any way. This year I was having a good time watching movies about scaring kids with Krampus. But like Halloween, it's all pretend. Part of the fun is laughing at the silliness of it all, as long as one doesn't take them seriously.
