Christophobics knocked out my Internet

Ikr? I have a phobia to snakes, rats, somewhat of a falling accorn phobia although that one is not as strong now, (I am still very much afraid of black walnuts, apples, and any other kinds of fruit that might fall on my head) and I am very eye squeamish as I don't like anybody but me touching my eyes or watching anybody else do things with their eyes. :erm
Snakes ,lol.
Darn tv,of course there are deadly, ones but you have to provoke them.

Bullying,back ?acts of terrorism ?

I have to say that I am not a fan of this topic or discussion line.
And I am all about "One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism....meaning that we are all united by the Same Father.

And I also know that I have a ministry that was very similar to Jesus' at times. Especially when thinking about guys like Stephen, Levi, Zacchaeus, David's Mighty Men and many many more.
The Woman at the Well story is one where a woman who everyone thought was a completely angry heathen and completely opposed to God was chosen by Jesus to be the FIRST for his Samaritan ministry.
Levi, whom everyone knew was a friend to the Heathen Romans and not fit to step foot in the Temple, was Chosen by Jesus to be the one who wrote the most detailed account of Jesus' life to the Jews. It is also the most read and preached book of the New Testament. (Matthew)
The crazy Legion guy who had all those demons...who created a complete christian community for those escaping Jerusalem in 66 AD to go into.

I know that in my life, I work as a construction worker, I am surrounded by guys (and some women) who at surface appearance and comment seem to be the ones that you are poking fun at the moment. The Church I attend is in the "rich section" of town and is filled to the brim with the "upper crust" and pillars of the Nashville community.
But I regularly speak to the guys that I work with about Christ. And the biggest obstacle I face is that those tattooed guys feel like they will never fit in with the Christians. They want to...but they know better.
I have regularly shocked my Sunday School class with classmates. Mumbles (the guy's nickname) came in riding a cheap motorcycle in winter with a beard and old, faded sleeves tattooed on both arms. He didn't even have all his front teeth. Then there was Otto, He too had tattoos all over including his neck as well as being Puerto Rican.

My classmates got the lesson. Now you all need to learn the same lesson.

We can't just show "Christian Love" to those of us whom we like. "Those people" are who we once were...and to some degree we still are them. Sure they are fearful of us and hating us...because they believe we hate them first. So a healthy dose of "sour grapes" is what they have when they slander us so much...and its driving people away from what they need the most. They are looking for hypocrisy at every level...AND YOU ARE GIVING IT TO THEM ON A SILVER PLATTER when you name-call and label this way.

We are not "the elite". We are not "Holier than thou. We are not better than others...we are simply forgiven.
We are supposed to be those who exhibit GRACE (unearned favor) more than others.
We are supposed to exhibit forgiveness instead of Judgmentalism.
We are supposed to exhibit lovingkindness to strangers and foreigners...not for expectations of getting anything back for our "payback" is in heaven.

Now labeling and name calling is only going to stir up hatred and ire. And following the tactics of a sin-centered group because it was "successful" is not a good idea in concept...ever. It may silence some...but it will still make others more vocal and in turn we will deserve any label others will slam on us...most likely as some form of "hypocritical hate group".

Jesus talked about this...a lot. He demonstrated this constantly. HE LIVED WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. And you claim that you want to be just like HIM?

This is not the way to win friends and influence people.

On that note ,at times I feel I dont fit in,church .not all but we do have the upper class Catholic and Methodist churches, there's a new Anglican one on the beach ,of these three this seems more welcoming ,not that Methodist one isn't .the Catholic one has stories ,I have met police officers who during a paid traffic direction by the church were told not to use the facilities !

Gosh John,,,,I feel like you and SB don't really understand this thread...sorry 'bout that.

I, and Anto9us2 are not poking fun at anyone.
I exhibit loving kindness to all...
do they do the same back to me?
No. Will this change my actions toward them?
No.

There is no name calling here.
Maybe you don't remember the times I'm speaking about because you're a young whipper snapper??
Yeah!

I think you know me better than to believe what you wrote above.....

If someone PUTS DOWN CHRIST....
you could ask them:
"Are you Christophobic?)

IOW,,, "Are you afraid of Christ"?

That's all it means.
It's a real question, it's not mean or name-calliing. or poking fun.

And I was just minding my own business trying to figure out what this thread really was about. :/ As I agree one hundred percent with what JohnDB said. :thumbsup

If you read my post no. 19 you'll see that we're not going to agree on this.

Calling someone ...phobic is not slander.
It has BECOME slander because WE have allowed the word phobic to be slanderous. It just means to be afraid of...how is that slander?? If I tell someone they are afraid of something I'm not slandering them....but with all the to do with racism,,,,we do not like to be called racists and we do not like to be told we are phobic in some way. Not even the same, but that's a different thread.

Protecting oneself is not being mean. I'm allowed to KILL a person who is trying to kill me. Jesus said to be gentle as doves but wise as serpents. He was very upset with what was happening in the temple with the buying and selling...whether it was for that reason alone or whether it was because they were charging exhorbitant prices due to the feast.

I hear "Jesus Christ!!!" many times while watching a move.
Why do I never hear "Mohammed!!"
Because Islam demands respect for their religion.
As should we....

:agreed

I'm not questioning anyone's intent.
Only the method.

This is a really bad idea.

Name calling and labeling is not ever taken well by the masses. It just isn't.
And for those very ones you are labeling you are going to give them fuel for their fire.
I know good and well that if you accuse someone of cowardice they usually react with violence.
I don't want that either.

This isn't going to get you what you want. I don't see anything good coming of this.

John,
Who am I labeling?
WE were labeled? Where is the fuel for the fire? There was NO FIRE!
So there must be something wrong with US!

So we are also accused of cowardice when we're called homophobes....and boy did it work! They're getting married these days.

Could you please state back to me what it is I'm explaining to you? IOW,,,What exactly does this thread state?

(you know like in marriage therapy so the two can understand each other. I do believe we're not understanding each other).

Although I can see both sides of the coin, I must admit that this is a very good point. You don't really want to add fuel to the fire, otherwise you will just get burned.

Often, people hear what they want to hear and not what's being said.
Christians are often labeled homophobic because we do not support homosexuality, but more so because in America, we (Christians) denied them civil unions which would have allowed them the same rights of marriage without calling it a marriage. IOW, long term committed homosexual relationships we're being treated unfairly from HEPA laws to healthcare benefits. In retailiation, they UNITED and have since reshaped the idea of marriage. Why? Because our self-righteousness did not give them the dignity that our US constitution demands.

This Homophobia in America is a huge campaign targeted at Christians to not publicly shame us and get us to respond in their same way which only hurts us, and reinforces their belief.

Starting a fad called Christophobia isn't going to be taken the way your intended. It causes divisions and will only fuel controversy with those who already have an agenda against them.

1 Peter 3:9 says this.
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

And Jesus says this in Matthew 5
Love Your Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

When we slander those who slander us, there is no heavenly reward.

"Are you afraid of Christ and for that reason you reject Him and have become a Christophobic".................. from there what will you say to them?

This is what I am hearing here. Are we reaching out to those you deem to have a phobia against Christ, or are you labeling them like they label us. "Tit for tat". IMO it's like the Christians standing on one side of the street with their signs that say "Christophobics" and the others on the other side of the street with their signs saying "Racist".

Did Christ tell those who nailed Him to the cross that they had a phobia about Him, or did He say "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". It wasn't the Romans that had Him crucified, but God's own people the Jews who rejected Christ and had Him nailed to the cross.

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. 24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

This thread was not meant to discuss homosexuality,,,so I won't.
It was only meant as an example of a phobia....since it is the most prominent one.

Many scientists fear Christianity as do some persons in general.
This is a phobia....it's on their part. Not ours.
WE don't hate anyone...it is THEM that hate us.

OTOH, there is no respect for our faith.
I'm used to hearing "OH, JESUS CHRIST" on TV programs, movies, and speech in general. I guess it could just continue as such.

This thread will just naturally end on its own.
It started out as a cute joke...
but has become too serious...thanks to ME, who does take this rather seriously.

Yes FHG....
That first sentence of yours sounds pretty good to me.
I wish I had thought of this when I was speaking to a young friend of mine (a dear friends daughter) and told me she did not wish to discuss God. And was rather upset I would even bring the topic up.

Yes. I would have asked her why she is Christophobic.
Since that is exactly what she was: afraid of God.

Since it went, there, the purpose of licensing was not to,honor God but,to,stop, interaccial marriages and to control men.

Why on,earth anyone thinks they must have state permission once informed is beyond me.yes I'm,for a public acknowledgment and I,get the reason for property rights but one can use trust funds and also wills
That's another thread

I am kind of astonished, what started out as a joke has turned so serious.

But I almost hear a message like "it's not Christ-like to stand up for your rights"

And what I am thinking about is Paul demanding that people come in person to get him and Silas out of jail at Phillippi.

Was that necessary? Was that RIGHT?

Ya see, some things come from being not only a Christian, but:

1. A U.S. citizen
2. A citizen of the free world, as I share with wondering

I am not slandering anyone - slander is spoken derogatory stuff, libel Is in print, as far as I know.

I will refrain from using THE BAD WORD because mods suggest it, just as I refrain from OSAS VS OSNAS discussions

I thought about requesting that my thread be deleted, but I choose not to.

I couldn't agree with you more.
Jesus did more than stand up for His rights...
He died for what He believed since the rulers of the day were against Him.

Here's where I think the true problem lies. It's one thing to be against sins like homosexuality and abortion,.. it's another thing altogether to be against the sinners themselves. You just have to make sure not to cross that line. I think a little bit of what was already posted has and that's why the mods are so upset. However,.. I don't really like confrontations so that's only my opinion.
