Churches grapple with whether to welcome convicted sex offen

You should see the comments and questions that come in to the other Christian website that I belong to, which is the largest in the world. If you want to meet sex addicted Christians we have the recovery forums for it.

I don't think people with sexual abuse issues would attend any of the fundamentalist churches I used to attend. They'd send them to hell before they could even get saved!
Some Christians have more evil in them than "unbelievers." It's just hidden a bit better.

Blessings,

In the churches I've been part of, the children are ALWAYS watched. I don't think that the fear that a sex offender will harm a child at church is a rational one. Of course be on guard, but in this day and age you have to do that with anyone because you don't know who you're dealing with. Churches nowadays have screenings for people who work with children, and most of them have systems in place to shepherd the kids from one place to another and there are always people around. Why forbid a person to come and hear about the Lord just because of the particular sin committed? I think it is a form of prejudice that needs to be dealt with in our congregations. We don't have to accept what they've done, but we do need to bring them to the One who can really heal them of their sickness. :amen

I completely agree! That is what i have observed. I think this is less of an issue than it used to be.
