This a ranting morning to something I can't figure out.:chin Coffee drinkers have you ever heard anyone say that your coffee is too strong? :rolleyes Have you tried to adjust the grounds to make it to where everybody can drink it but only to find out it is not strong enough for yourself since you have been making it the strength you like in the first place and anything less would not be good? :drool I made coffee this morning and got to thinking :idea well why don't those who don't like the strength of my coffee add a little water then we would all be happy.:clap So I told my aunt:screwloose the other day:angry3 "you can weaken your coffee if it's too strong but I can't strengthen mine to be stronger". I mean really, how hard is to put water in their strong coffee instead of ranting on me.:thumbsup

I do not like strong coffee. Most of the time strong coffee is also bitter coffee in my opinion. There are exceptions though and I do like it when I run into those. My wife on the other hand like her coffee strong. The stronger the better in her eyes. When she makes coffee I do just as you described. I add water to dull mine down but unfortunately the addition of the water doesn't remove the bitter taste. It weakens it a little but that's about it.

I also found that I am not able to drink caffeinated coffee much anymore. A few years ago I struggled regularly with heartburn and couldn't figure out why. I don't know what gave me the idea but I decided to try switching to decaffeinated coffee and to my surprise my heartburn problem vanished completely. I did some online searching to see what the side effects of too much decaffeinated coffee was and surprisingly the answer given was heartburn. The reason being that decaffeinated coffee still contains the acids common with caffeinated coffee. To this day, if I drink a couple cups of caffeinated coffee, I will develop a heartburn later in the day. Who woulda thunk? :coffee

There are several types of coffee and manners in which the beans can be roasted.

Only once did I ever have to cut my coffee with water...that was Brazil . They brew something so strong that expresso would seem weak by comparison.

Ethiopia and South America are the two largest growers of coffee. Try Danish coffee. They like a particularly smooth coffee that will be smooth when strong.

They go out of their way to find the growers of these beans and contract for them.

I like coffee strong enough in the morning that it gets me up and walks for me till I wake up. :hysterical You know I have drunk maxwell house for a long time until I started to get severe heartburn. I didn't it was actually the maxwell house until I switched to folgers and the heart burn stopped. Unfortunately I am having to spend time at my aunts house (we had a death in the family this past weekend) and all she has is maxwell house so far so good but I suspect heart burn time is coming.

:coffee

Wow JohnDB sounds like you know your coffee:yes. I have drank Stewarts coffee which is from scottland but you can buy it in the grocery store. It is very good. But I don't like it so strong you have to cut it with a knife. My heart would go into flutters and maybe cause me to leave this world and I would not like to say to God that I got there early cause of drinking strong killer coffee:hysterical.

For some people coffee is a religion...
For others it's the difference between death and life.

I think most coffee drinkers would find my coffee too weak.
If I get coffee that's too strong, I add milk / cream (otherwise it's always black).

My mother in law.. had a habit of saying to a waitress Honey, if this is coffee give me tea and if this is tea give me coffee...

You can use Folgers coffee bags..
Pretty good, you use it like hot tea bags.
They have them for individual servings.
If you like coffee strong, let it sit longer, if not, take it out sooner.

It has worked for me...

I drink a large amount of coffee.
I prefer coffee with cream, however I regularly drink it with milk or if the situation calls for it - black.
I enjoy my coffee strong - I'm afraid a weak cup of coffee does not satisfy my caffeine cravings. :coffee
I have a loyalty card for coffee purchases. :wink

My aunt drinks straight black and for the life of me I can see how she does it or anyone else can. It is unique how we all have a different taste of what we like. I like it with a couple drops of milk with a butt load of sugar:eek2. I worked in a cafe that served severely weak coffee and after may attempts to get the owner to strengthen it was to no avail. I finally asked why they make it so weak:confused and they told me because the old people who come in regularly (mornings) like it that way:screwloose, I said you are making terrible coffee :walljust make them happy :rolleyes. Well need less to say if I wanted coffee I would have to get it elsewhere :thud. A weak cup is like drinking warm water with a stain :hysterical.

I began with my dad's coffee and having served 12years, 6 of them in combat, we drank coffee that had the str3ngth to curl the hair on your toes, it was very good coffee.

With 8 years of service I spent 30 months in Close Combat Support making coffee in a number 10 can, over an open wood fire, good strong coffee.

If the coffee is to strong, please, feel free to add water, but in my cup!

Combat gives you an appreciation for the simple pleasures of life, doesn't it.

I'm about to go brew some more just now. Seattle's Best, I think...the beans, I grind as I go. Usually I do it with half n half and a little sugar, but there's this new creamer on the market...natural bliss or something....milk, cream, sugar, and flavor (this bottle is vanilla). Makes for a better creamer than half n half and sugar or syrup, somehow.

But, yeah...strong coffee only works with some types of coffee. I do my Dunkin Donuts blend strong, I do Starbucks strong, I do Seattle's Best strong....the big ole cans of maxwell house, 8 o clock, etc....not strong.

Now don't get mad at me, I'm just asking a question.
Here Reba, have a chocolate.
