In the beginning, mankind was created in the image and likeness of God (Gen
1:26-27) and given a grade of excellence. (Gen 1:31)

So it was that mankind came into existence with the potential to become divine in
his thinking. But then came the forbidden fruit incident whereby mankind became a
tin God.

Gen 3:22 . . And the Lord God said: The man has now become like one of us,
knowing good and evil.

In other words: mankind's conscience lost it's potential to become divine in it's
thinking and took to rationalizing.

Rom 2:14-16 . . Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature
things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not
have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their
hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing,
now even defending them.
