Well, you should be confused. Many atheists, such as this one, simply don't understand context, and so what he says is simply false. Take this, for example:

'In First Timothy (1 Timothy 1:6-7 and 6:3-4) and Second Timothy we’re told not to “wrestle with” the definitions or meanings of words because that kind of questioning is “useless” and leads “to the ruin of the hearers,” in fact any questioning and debate are worldly and vacuous and only lead to “godlessness,” and even talking about one’s doubts and questions will only spread evil like a disease (2 Timothy 2:14-17). Thus “have nothing to do with stupid and senseless controversies,” we’re told, because they only “breed quarrels” (2 Timothy 2:23).

And how do you tell what is a “stupid and senseless controversy”? The gist you get everywhere in scripture is that it’s anything contrary to what you were first taught (e.g. Galatians 1:6-9). You don’t need to investigate anything beyond that because “the Lord will give you understanding in everything” (2 Timothy 2:7). In other words, don’t doubt or deviate from what you were first told. Don’t analyze or argue. Don’t discuss your doubts and differing conclusions with anyone. Doing so is wicked. Even having doubts makes you unstable, and unworthy of any support from God.

Everywhere else the subject comes up, this same sentiment is reinforced. Reject philosophical analysis as wicked (Colossians 2:8; Ephesians 4:13-15). The questioners of the world are damnable fools (1 Corinthians 1:20). Every thought and question must be subdued and made captive to Christian doctrine (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). In Luke 1:18-22 Zechariah is struck mute for merely asking for evidence. In John 20:29 we’re only told those who believe without evidence are blessed—thus belittling Thomas for merely asking for evidence, the real message of that passage. Hebrews 11 establishes we should just trust the things we’re told, and not expect there to be evidence (and yes, that’s what it says: see Not the Impossible Faith, pp. 236-40).'

Everything is taken out of context and so is completely misunderstood.

Or, take this:

"All theism is built on ignoring evidence."

That is patently false.

"Atheists as a whole have already met their burden of evidence in showing the existence of any imagined god is extraordinarily improbable."

This is also patently false.

He is attempting to show the problems with and absurdity of Christian belief; that it is a delusion. However, the whole article is laughable and typical of atheists who completely fail at understanding what the Bible says.

I’ve noticed this sort of thing with unbelievers dealing with Christianity…
Verses taken out of context usually with a theme of Christianity encouraging docility and unquestioning obedience.


Honestly? It is what it is. Scripture warns about the world perceiving the gospel as foolishness so I suppose it is to be expected.

Hello DoaWK1992, I agree with all of the assessments above. The blog author's rant that you posited for us is made up of lies (in the form of half-truths, deceptions and misunderstandings) in an attempt to make Christianity look like a horrible religion and, therefore, a horrible choice for someone to make.

The best, and perhaps the only thing to do (that evenifigoalone mentioned above) is to have you grab two or three of the things that the blog author wrote (the ones that are bothering you the most would be a good place to start) and post them so that we can see them. Then we can talk about them one at a time and, hopefully, help you see why he is wrong, and why you needn't worry about anything that he said in the blog 🙂

In the meantime, don't worry, because what he said demonstrates how very little he knows and understands about God, the Bible and/or the Christian faith (whether it is intentional ignorance on his part or not, I cannot say, but we can easily show his deceptions for what they are in any case).

p.s. - you may also want to call or email your pastor with questions about the blog comments that bother you the most. This is a busy time of the year for pastors, but most of them like answering their congregant's questions and will make time to do so, even now (just be patient if he doesn't have time to talk to you or to reply immediately right now). In fact, email may be the best approach at this time of the year so that your pastor can answer your questions as soon as he has time to do so (and you'll have them in writing to review if you need to :)).

Finally, here is something that is important to remember about atheists (and anyone else who is not saved/who is still a "natural" rather than "spiritual" man/women, and who, therefore, has neither the mind of Christ, nor the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit by which the spiritual things of God are appraised and understood to be true).

Actually, here is the entire passage. V's 12-13 and 15-16 are in reference to believers, while v14, which is wholly concerned with the unsaved, stands in sharp contrast to the other four verses.

1 Corinthians 2​
12 We [Christians/believers] have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, ​
13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. ​
14 But a natural man [an unbeliever] does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. ​
15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. ​
16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ. ​

So, are you making a good effort to inform yourself well about the Christian faith? Are you spending lots of time listening to Christians make the case for their worldview? Or are you just listening to the enemies of Christianity tell you what it's all about? If you want to be sure to have a skewed, distorted understanding of Christianity, just let its enemies tell you what to think about it. As enemies of the faith, they have a vested interest in making it look as bad as possible - even if they have to use Strawman arguing to do so.

It's a way to manulipulate people and try to make them fearful. They just laugh or make a big deal out of something that is not a big deal to make us feel stupid or afraid. They also gaslight a lot. Not worth the arguments. They just go in circles.

I had this one dude insult me and tell me to quikly prove his point. Then he isvlike message me NOW lazy and all this gaslighting stuff and manipulation. Kept insulting me as if grabbing my head and rubing me nose in the ground. I don't put up with the those fear tactics or emotional abuse. Then he started arguing about how matthew, mark, luke and John was contradictory. I'm like dude if they were all word for word the same by four people that would be a red flag. We are not robots. This is four people with different perspectives. It isn't like they all have the same eyes. Them he started arguing about a tree. I'm like really I don't understand your problem. It is talking about a tree how is that bad. The bible does talk about trees, sometimes as parables ect. I was just wasting time with his nonsense and them he said he would post it on an atheist site and laugh at it. Manuplilation. I'm like I could careless what you do and if you laugh at me. He's like trying to create fear on me again. Read what it says are you an idiot. I'm think yes I would be an idiot listening to such nonsense and emotional abuse. Yelling at me isn't going to get him anywhere. Waist of time. I have respect for myself. I'm not scared at all. Then he had the nerve to send a message to me. I didn't even read it. He's a jerk. Just wanting to get a reaction from me. So dumb. I'm not going to walk in circles for anyone. Oh no he put a laughing face on my post. Oh I'm really threatened and think there is no purpose in life. Get real dude. Ha. I don't need that in my life.
