Cow's Milk is bad for humans

This is something that I have known for a lot of years, and that is cow's milk is not good for humans. It causes a lot of problems down the road. Below is nothing look at some of the more in depth links at the bottom of this article. Simply put the stuff will kill you.

Milk is one of the most popular drinks in the U.S. Many American children grow up drinking milk and are told it is good for their health. Contrary to popular belief, however, many scientists and doctors have found that drinking milk may do more harm to humans than good.
Is Milk Good or Bad?

Just as dog’s milk is intended for puppies and human milk is beneficial for human babies, cow's milk is meant only for calves.
According to Vegetarian Starter Kit, cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do – to nourish their baby calves. But many calves born on dairy farms are taken from their mothers when they are just one day old and fed milk replacers. In order to keep a steady supply of milk, the dairy cows are milked several times a day for maximum production and profit of the farm. Some cows spend their entire lives standing on concrete floors while others are crammed into massive mud lots.
Milk is not Healthy for Humans

Many researchers say dairy products are high in saturated fat and cholesterol and have been linked to numerous illnesses and diseases such as diabetes, prostate cancer, heart disease, various allergies and Crohn’s disease. A report of Harvard University, which followed more than 75,000 women over a period of 12 years, found that the women who consumed the most dairy products had no more protection from bone fractures than those consuming little or no dairy. There are plenty of calcium rich foods other than dairy, such as kale, broccoli, collard greens, figs, apricots, almonds, sesame seeds, fortified non-dairy milks, and fortified orange juice.
Cows are Pumped with Chemicals

According to a report by the United States Department of Agriculture, there are more than nine million cows living on U.S. dairy farms – about 13 million fewer than there were in 1950. However, milk production has continued to increase, from 116 billion pounds per year in 1950 to 170 billion in 2003. The cows would naturally produce only enough milk to meet the needs of their calves which is about 16 pounds a day. But today, they are forced to produce more than 50 pounds a day or 18,000 pounds of milk a year – three times more milk than they would naturally by using genetic manipulation, antibiotics, and hormones.
The Dangers of Cow’s Milk

As a result, the cows on factory farms suffer from a variety of health problems. Common illnesses are mastitis, inflammation of the mammary glands and “milk fever,†a dairy industry disease caused by intensive milk production which occurs when milk secretion depletes calcium faster than it can be replenished in the blood. Bovine Growth Hormone (BGH), a synthetic hormone, is commonly injected into cows to get them produce even more milk. The hormones adversely affect the cows’ health and increase the rate of birth defects in their calves, as well as the cause of breast and prostate cancer in humans.

no, he's hitting up large dairy farms.

i know farmers(or former ones) that drink straight from the cow.

i have its good!

btw if milk is bad, then butter, cheese, and ice cream must be bad too.

and mcarthur diary here in florida does cheese and butter as well.

Jason cow's milk is for cow babies are we cow babies ? Cow's milk has been linked to a lot of ailments. I still eat ice cream and butter, but cows milk is still bad for you if you are doing it long term. You really are only supposed to drink cow milk for a short while anyway from your own mother, and that milk is the one that is good for you. Many people lose the enzymes to digest the stuff has they get older.

its called lactose intolerance, and techically giving of the human milk is just a bad for the mother.(this factor is in the mothers milk as well)

ever wonder why women loose teeth quicker if they have children(the body looks for calcium anywhere it can and uses it)

i cant drink soy milk , i have the irritated bowels if i do.

goats milk, no problem.

According to Vegetarian Starter Kit...

Maybe I'm just cynical, but are you sure that's a reliable and impartial source of information about animal products? Seems to me they might have a reason for wanting to make animal products, such as milk, look worse than they really are. Of course, it is true that nearly everybody that drinks cow's milk dies withing 80 or 90 years of drinking their first glass.

Seriously though, if the cows are being pumped full of all kinds of drugs and other chemicals, then there is obviously a problem if those chemicals are passed on through the milk. But if you drink organic milk, where those chemicals haven't been used, it shouldn't be a problem, should it?

Cows milk has been suspect for years, and it has been proven to cause problems, just go and google it and you will see.

Here is another view

Many people can't tolerate milk, children are often allergic to it, and in many cultures no one drinks milk once weaned. True, but so what? Though most folks of northern European descent can handle plenty of dairy, an estimated 75 percent of blacks, Latinos, and Native Americans--and 90 percent of Asians--don't produce enough lactase, the enzyme needed to digest milk sugar, or lactose. Maybe 1 to 2 percent of children under two are hypersensitive to cow's milk. The antidairy faction sees this as evidence that cow's milk is an unnatural Anglo vice; dairy fans lament that so much of the world is unable to enjoy milk's benefits. Suffice it to say that milk consumption among northern Europeans has a long history, and their low level of lactose intolerance suggests they've adapted. Since you asked, we drink cow's milk because cows are big enough to produce up to 100 pints per day (try that with a rat). As for cats, who cares what's bad for them?

  • Milk causes heart disease. Sure, if you drink whole milk. It's easy enough to switch to the low-fat variety. But milk opponents say: the skimmed fat just gets recycled into ice cream, cheese, and processed foods. Also true--to keep fat consumption under control, you need to stick to low-fat everything, not just milk.
  • Milk causes cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, and so on. Here we get into murky territory. Some studies say cow's milk promotes breast cancer; others say it suppresses it. Some studies suggest milk is linked to significantly elevated risk of prostate cancer; other says the risk is insignificant or nonexistent. A purported link between milk and diabetes is likewise controversial. Some investigators have found milk protects against colorectal cancer; others say the opposite. In short, research to date has been all over the place. Don't trust blanket statements about little-known dangers or benefits of milk--for example, PETA's claim that milk causes osteoporosis. (For the record, current evidence suggests that young women who drink milk reduce their risk, but that the protective benefit diminishes as they age.) The use of recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to increase yields has raised concerns that milk may be contaminated with hormone residue, pus from rBGH-related udder infections, antibiotics used to treat those infections, and dangerously elevated levels of a natural growth factor called IGF-1. At this point no human health risk stemming from rBGH use has been demonstrated, but one never knows.
  • All the nutrients milk provides are available from other sources. True, but the typical American diet doesn't include too many of them. To get calcium without consuming dairy products, for example, you're supposed to eat canned salmon or sardines, legumes, kale, broccoli, and other green vegetables, plus calcium-fortified orange juice or soy milk. A determined adult can get the recommended daily dose (1,000 milligrams) this way, but good luck getting a kid to eat all that.
Don't misunderstand--there's a lot to be said for a nondairy diet (assuming you cut down on other animal products too); adults in other cultures get along without milk, and so can you with a little ingenuity. But I wouldn't try giving up milk purely because of the supposed health benefits--and I definitely wouldn't take it away from the kids, who will surely consume enough beer without being told it's good for the planet.

my point as well on that.

There is only a very small amount of food that is actually good for us humans, and (at least here in the U.S.) it is more expensive.

There's a book called Food Inc. that talks about all the problems of the typical American diet and what you can do to save yourself. I've only just begun to read it but so far it is very interesting.

Jason, have you tried rice milk, almond milk, or hemp milk? (I only ask because you mentioned that you can not drink soy milk.)

i have tried all but hemp milk. same reaction.

ick rice milk, that was the most horrid tasting milk in the world.

hemp milk as in cannabis turned into a milk?

Here's something interesting I found on Wikipedia:

  • Human milk contains, on average, 1.1% protein, 4.2% fat, 7.0% lactose (a sugar), and supplies 72 kcal of energy per 100 grams.
  • Cow milk contains, on average, 3.4% protein, 3.6% fat, and 4.6% lactose, 0.7% minerals and supplies 66 kcal of energy per 100 grams.

Many people point to lactose intolerance to support their view that milk is bad for us, but human milk contains over 50% more lactose than cow's milk. If a baby is lactose intolerant, it will have even more trouble with it's own mother's milk than it would with cow's milk.

lewis, i simply cant drink soy milk.

irritatating to my bowels.

who drinks three percent these days.

I drink regular whole milk that is available in the stores here. I went to my refrigerator to check, and it's 3.9%. Our low-fat milk is 1.5% and skimmed milk is 0.1%. The difference between those two is that one tastes a little less watery than the other. I drink neither.

whole milk is 3% here, and 2% is label as 2 percent of lowfat and skim milk is the same.

lewis site is typical of the vegan logic.

what they dont tell you that if one is careful with veganism theres some serious health issues as you need some protiens after a few yrs on that diet.

You really are only supposed to drink cow milk for a short while anyway from your own mother,

Man you have just called al the women COWS. You best stay in your cave caveman! You planning on living a long time?

i had a friend of mine who is vegan and a young woman who pictured a bunch of woman being milked ,i quickly ended our friendship on fb over that, as i found it quite hypocritical to be vegan and yet have illicit sex and smoke pot variations.

"Is cow's milk bad for you?"

The question itself is a misdirect (a tactic the CIA refers to as a slide). Rather, we should ask, "Is raw cow's milk bad for you?"

When one does a bit of research into Louis Pasteur (ala his pasteurization process), one will discover that his germ theory was, and still is, fatally flawed.

Historically, raw milk remains a curative. Alas, there is no money in health; the real blood money is in sickness and death.
