Deathbed Visions

Because

The word Paradise is usually used as another word for heaven Revelation 2:7.Jesus knew that His death was imminent and that He would soon be in heaven.So Jesus used "Paradise" as a synonym for heaven.In 2 Corinthians 12:4 Paul used the word Paradise.
interesting the kjv I have uses the third heaven not paradise for that chapter in Corinthians.
I generally see gan eden as heaven but as free says one cant take luke 16 to be the end of time and judgement. why? because the judgement hasn't happened.

sheol is described or something close. in hades, not gehenna. hades has that but remember that the rich man asked to have lazarus go back and warn the living.

interesting I have never saw that. that is gan eden to the tee . the jews teach that but they add some thing I disagree with. that snake circles it tempting men to leave that. they see the snake separate from satan.

He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming -- I will give to him to eat of the tree of life that is in the midst of the paradise of God

I don't read the KJV.

Gehenna is the OT version of hades.Sheol is the NT version.

uhm no it not. gehenna is physical place outside the city of Jerusalem its a trash dump and where Solomon offered kids to molech. that is why that is used for the idea of the final place of judgement. it had a fire that never stopped burning day or night. it burned.that is very good way to show us what the final place of sinners. if gehenna was to be use the ylt would have used that. it didn't that is the MOST word for word translation!

Gehenna is that too but it was also the name of the place of the unbelievers in the OT.

Actually, today, it is a beautiful park. And that is interesting.... because if you tried to scare a modern Sabre living in Jerusalem with threats of being put in Gehenna, he would look at you like you were crazy.

show me that. I remember only sheol being listed for all dead, not gehenna. I posted a link showing that gehenna was the final place and not be be confused with hades, sheol. the kjv bible lists hell as all three at times.

The word gehenna is the Greek translation of the Hebrew ge-hinnon meaning "Valley of Hinnon".2 Chronicles 28:3.It was an unclean place used for burning trash.Jesus used gehenna for an illustration of hell.

yes but that isn't what sheol is, hades is never mentioned as that. that is what I mean. when jesus uses the word hades it cant be gehenna! that is the problem hades is never gehenna. hades in greek has a section equal to paradise and I already said that in some circles jews thought that sheol had a level for the righteous. otherwise you said to me jesus died and entered into gehenna! which simply cant be. 2 peter 3 says he entered into sheol.

Exactly ! "An illustration." As are so many, many things we assume are literally "described" in the Bible. (Like the whole "Lazarus and The Rich Man" parable.

besides he said into outer darkness and weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. that is similar to sheol but its not sheol!sheol has that. otherwise why would Jacob say he is going to sheol?and if hades is gehenna how can gehenna be cast into itself?

Do a reseach on Gehenna.

gehenna is the final place of souls. how can sheol be then if sheol is gehenna that shows all verses where jesus mentions gehenna. sheol isn't gehenna. you cant confuse them
Hell is the final place of the souls not Gehenna.Hell is empty now.The unbelievers and Satan and his angels will be thrown into hell or the lake of fire after the 1000 year millennium.But then again this has been rehashed many times on here. :whirl

doth though knowest more then jesus?

matthew 5:22
matthew 5:29
revelation 20 ylt
And I saw a great white throne, and Him who is sitting upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven did flee away, and place was not found for them;
12 and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and scrolls were opened, and another scroll was opened, which is that of the life, and the dead were judged out of the things written in the scrolls -- according to their works;
13 and the sea did give up those dead in it, and the death and the hades did give up the dead in them, and they were judged, each one according to their works;
14 and the death and the hades were cast to the lake of the fire -- this [is] the second death;15 and if any one was not found written in the scroll of the life, he was cast to the lake of the fire.

I can post ylt where those matthew verses are rendered GEHENNA.

29 `But, if thy right eye doth cause thee to stumble, pluck it out and cast from thee, for it is good to thee that one of thy members may perish, and not thy whole body be cast to gehenna.
30 `And, if thy right hand doth cause thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast from thee, for it is good to thee that one of thy members may perish, and not thy whole body be cast to gehenna

so how can sheol/hades be that? gehenna is the same location per that final book of the bible is where satan, the wicked , death and the hades are.
