Hey All,
Here is something to ponder.
When God is fed up with humanity and wipes them out in the flood. Is that God admitting defeat?
By destroying humanity, is God admitting that His love was unable to turn the people from their wickedness?
I know these are heavy questions. But God's actions pretty much support a yea answer to both questions.

What about Sodom and Gomorrah?
Is God admitting, by His actions, that He was unable to save them? Remember if there were five good people God was going to spare the cities. So God could not get five people in the whole city to follow Him?

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

Your presupposition here is that God is not omnipotent. He has a plan for everything, though more often than not we do not understand the full scope of it.

If you're reformed you would have to answer yes to both.

If you're not reformed then man's free will comes into play.
God gave us free will.
We didn't use it wisely.

God does not force His will upon us, as your question would suggest.

God didn't destroy humanity. He saved 8 people to start over.
The flood is barely mentioned in the New Testament. It is mentioned a few times to compare it with the end times when people will be destroyed by surprise.

Mat 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Then again in Luke 17:27 and that is it.

One more time in Peter to use for baptism.
1Peter 3:20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
1Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Peter isn't talking about all the people who died, but those who were saved through water.

Could it be possible that God brought on the flood and saved Noah and his family just to use it as an example for us in the New Testament?

1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
Rom 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

If God wanted to wipe out the human race, He would not have saved Noah and his family.

Gen 8:21 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

God knew that it would get just as bad in a very short time.

This is a great question, because it shows the misunderstanding people have of the gospel. What King would ever allow himself to be brutalized by his enemies? Or allow His people to be horribly victimized by their enemies? Only one right answer,

when we were enemies.....you, that were sometime alienated and enemies
Rom.5:10, Col.1:21 KJV

God appeared on earth and was hated yet continued to do good all the time toward all.
The blame is on us.

Genesis chapter 19 .
God hates sodomy and perversion. God destroyed sodom and gomorrah. It's no mystery.
Leviticus chapter 20:13 . Gods law. Homosexuality is forbidden.
1 Corinthians chapter 6 . Homosexuality is forbidden. It's trip to sheol, unless they repent and conform to God's standard.

Noah's flood was Geographical. Genesis chapter 6 .
The sons of God were the fallen angels. They left their place of habitation against God's authority. Satan ordered fallen angels to earth, to impregnate women. To pollute blood line that messiah would be born in the flesh.

By Jesus dying on the Cross, Jesus defeated satan. Were all people can repent and have salvation from Jesus.

It's not difficult to understand.

In Ezekiel chapter 28 . God sentenced Lucifer to lake of fire on judgement day. Because Lucifer tried to take Mercy seat by violence. Prince of Tyre is Lucifer. Pride rooted away Lucifer heart. He stopped loving God.

Self worship and pride is down hill ride to hell.

Lucifer tried to avert his fate, by having fallen angels pollute blood line in Noah's days.
Do you understand ??
Jude 6 . And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left thier own habitation. He hath reserved in ever lasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Verse 7. Even as sodom and gomorrah ,and the cities about them in like manner giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

OIKETERION in Greek means = Habitation.

God didn't tolerate fallen angels. They are in chains until judgement day, they follow satan into lake of fire.

Those who in the flesh practice homosexuality. If they don't repent and change their ways, it's trip to hell.

We understand this. If God hates something, don't do it. Dont defy Gods authority.

John chapter 3
Everyone must be born one time in the flesh, to decide to follow satan or Jesus. Those who choose to follow satan, will go to sheol, its holding place for the spirtualty dead or wicked until judgement day.

Psalm chapter 6. To document Sheol. Called hell.

Those who repent and love and serve God, will go to heaven.
