By the amount of books out there, I would say it's not only this time right now that people have been infatuated with it - or are more people discussing it today then years passed?

Do you not believe The Revelation was meant for the future?
It's only since about the late 70's that we have gone crazy with it.

Part of it, but not most of it. Go look at who John said it was supposed to be read to.
I figured it was when all the Left Behind series books came out, people jumped on the bandwagon with the rapture, yet it was earlier than that. The books must have been a result of the hype, not the other way around.
