Which is the right step towards the thread title? Live with that terrible wife (or husband) or get a divorce?

For a non-christian, doesn't matter. They don't serve God anyway.

For a Christian that serves God, there are only two legitimate reasons to divorce, and nagging isn't one of them.

But if you are married to a non-Christian they can leave you. 1 Corinthians 7:15 But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.

God hates divorce. Period.

I believe the title scripture is referring more to a church then an actual wife.

EPHESIANS 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Also note that divorce brings nothing but, trouble to a youth.
