can you say me it i think i saw a jewish man wearing beard he says you shall have a beard...... :)

do you think christians have beard ?

Christians live under grace, not under the ancient Jewish law. We are told in 1 Cor 6:12 that all things are "lawful" (although we are warned in the same verse that not all things are a good idea!) Christians are free to have a beard, or really wear any kind of hair or clothing style they prefer, or not. We have freedom. The man you saw was Jewish, not Christian.

i hope to follow the whole bible.

Follow the whole Bible, sure. But also recognize which parts apply to how a Christian should live their lives, which parts are the history of how ancient Jewish people were to live their lives (they are not the same thing), which parts are allegory, learn how to see the principle behind what is said so you know when to take it literally and when to apply the principle but not the literal words, etc. etc.

i hope to follow the whole bible.

And you should.

This took me a while to learn:

In my view, it is grace that, undeserved by us, forgives sin if we confess our sins and repent ("try" to stop sinning) but grace will not allow us to sin at will anytime and without concern/perpetually and assume we can do as we always did before we were saved and still expect to be saved. We can mess up/sin a lot.... ask forgiveness... keep trying and be fine.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Our minds/thought process have become new, our nature? takes time for that to catch up...:)

To me the simple key to all this is read/learn/try.

But to answer your simple question: No, I don't think Christians are required to have a beard. Traditional Jews, yes. Not Christians.

And for the beardless among us a quick hijack/tip......public service announcement? yeah, that sounds better.

I just switched back to the old safety razor and there was very little difference in the $5 triple blade and a 10 to 20 cent old style double edged razor blade when it came to taking off a beard. Can't believe I wasted so much money for all those years.

I do find it funny how any dude who has long hair and a beard they somehow allways get the nickname jesus.

The way I understood it was, the beard of course, is understandable and the long hair may have been assumed because Jesus was a Nazarite and because he was perfect, he had taken the Vow of the Nazarite. During the Vow period, the Nazarite was not to cut their hair.

Don't quote me on that and I'm not certain if it was even Biblical, but it could explain the assumptions of why he is usually depicted as he is.

It's really a cultural thing. In Jesus time the Greek men commonly had short hair as depicted in their statues and art from the period.

I didnt think of that. But then those statues of kings and emporors did they not wear thoses wig things like a judge wears?. Im sure i seen somewhere they wear judge wig things whatever there called. Maybe they had long hair underneath.

I think maybe you're thinking more of Europeans of the middle ages.

I think your right. I had a look at images from ancient rome and greece and they had short hair. Are all those statues authentic from the times or just made up in modern times?

Christians usually do not have beards because they erroneously believe the command to not destroy the beard was abolished. The Almighty created men to have beards (with some exceptions). He later commanded His people to not destroy their beard (Lev 19:27). Yeshua (Jesus) had a beard. His death did not abolish beards.

I have had a beard for many years. Not as glorious as Bill Taylor's though. There were cultist practices during the early Hebrew times and the cult followers would mar their beards with various designs. The Hebrew men were not to make such designs but to let them grow naturally. If I'm at fault, it's keeping mine short.

As a non-Christian you may still consider yourself under these laws, However as Christians we are not. But don't feel like we are privileged. We actually were given a much harder law to follow, and that is to love our neighbors as Christ loves us. That's a lot harder to do than it is to follow the Jewish religion's laws.
