1)Everyone keeps saying dumb meaning "of low intelligence / ignorant" However dumb means "unable to speak / mute" so it is a little "dumb" to call them dumb..sorry school's over :D
2) Squirrel + water + oyster sauce + soy sauce + a dash of vinegar. Add all to wok or deep skillet and broil / saute for 10 minutes on even heat = yummo!

While dumb can mean without speech, it also does mean lacking intelligence or good judgment ;stupid; dull-witted. It's right there in the dictionary.
Oyster sauce eh? I'll have to try that. Squirrels are ok. I've ate plenty of them over the years. It used to be that the city squirrels were no good to eat because they ate out of trash cans and such, but this is no longer the case. A lot of people put nuts out for them and they tend to eat rather well in the city. The city squirrels are fat little suckers whereas the mountain squirrels are always skinny and lean, lol.
New dictionaries, especially US versions will have the "accepted norm" definition of b#st#rdized English in them. It's a sad, sad, sad world for a colonial like me who speaks real English.
Squirrels are pretty normal in the diet up here as are rats, frogs, crickets, locusts, snails...darn! If it moves, kill it and eat it! If it doesn't move, pick it up and eat it.
With my apologies to Classik for derailing your thread mate.
Blessings to all.

I did, but I didn't waste the meat, and still have the skin. He was a real cool looking Aberts squirrel that was black & white. You know the Aberts squirrels, the ones that look like little devil squirrels with the tufted ears? That kind...
Oh, for those who never heard the story, I was hunting and walking and this darn squirrel started sounding the alarm in a tree screeching and telling the other animals that a hunter was coming for them...so I pulled my pistol and shot him. A great shot right in the forehead with my G21. He did not suffer at all and provided meat for the stew that night, praise the Lord.

I looked them up, they are really cute. A lot like European red ones (our "red squirrels" often are brown or black).

Yeah! Those guys. Looks just like the reddish squirrel you posted. It blew my mind when I moved out here and seen one of those. I never heard of them before I moved here.
