Myself I am a Christian a child of the living God, I don't celebrate evil/halloween and that is how I raise my children...Halloween is like saying there is a little man dress up in a red suite giving toys to all little good children...Let me put it this way if you are a true Christian, why would any parents want to raise there children up in lies?... You may think it doesn't do any harm, but the real question here is does it?...:pray

We have 3 kids, and we never have. I'm not against it when done innocently, but we have neighbors who take it to an extreme. I'll take a picture of their house this year and post it. Their whole front yard is made into a graveyard, and they had a huge sign lit up last year saying "Satan lives here". :o They've had bloody bodies hanging out of their windows; all kinds of crazy things. They are very friendly otherwise. They're the extreme, but Halloween's gotten more horrific over the decades in my observation.

We just got in the habit of taking the kids do a local church for a gym full of moonwalks and games. They love it and have never wanted to go trick-or-treating. If my young ones wanted to dress in something fun and walk around, I wouldn't object too much. We'd just go the other direction from our neighbors!
We don't decorate for it.

I think the most ironic thing about Christians suddenly being against Halloween are unaware that the holiday's name actually means the All Hallows evening, aka All saints day. Samhain actually has nothing to do with modern ideas of Halloween at all.
Yeah, I celebrate the day, its my birthday so I always treated it like a massive party and I get to where a costume to work.

Yes. I get to be creative and make a costume and get free candy. That's just plain fun.
I don't really care about the whole "Samhain" thing. Little kids running around in costumes and getting candy =/= Pagan holiday. In fact, most people don't know it's roots at all, much less what "Samhain" is. I've spoken with several Pagans who are actually more offended by it than most Christians.

We love celebrating Halloween! We also put on a big "Harvest Party" in our pole barn that includes a hay ride for the pre-teens of our church. Ohh, we play them old games, like bobbing for apples and eating dognuts off a clothes line! It's a blast!

Opps, forgot to add.. There is one person from our congregation that won't have anything to do with halloween, including our harvest party :shame

Thank you for all the replies.

I always loved Halloween but i do know people who have never celebrated Halloween so i wanted to see what some others had to say about it. :)

all hallows day aka las dia de los muertos is the celebration of the martyred saints, not what it is now being known for.

i dont celebrete it either.(halloween).

Jeff, i want to see that in a video. lol

I never have. Many young kids do it, but it was never big Down Under and it's diminishing. It's a very American thing.

I don't have anything against it, and I kinda wish I got into it when I was younger so I could get some candy, but oh well :shrug.

Halloween doesn't bother me unless it goes to the extreme, like Mike's neighbours.

We didn't celebrate growing up. We went to Church events on those days. Just as fun. Though one year I did sneak out with a friend so I could get candy. :oops

Yip. It’s not celebrated in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
><st1:country-region w:st=
</st1:country-region>South Africa</ST1:pla either. And it is too dangerous for the children to walk alone in the streets anyway. My daughter saw something on Halloween on television and she wants me to wrap her in toilet paper so she could be a mummy. :lol :screwloose I promised her that we could get some pumpkins and we could decorate the house, but now she wants me to buy her candy so she can shout ‘trick or treave’. :D Yeah, I know, it should be ‘treat’ but she battles with language.
BTW, what is candy? Is it just sweets like toffee and chocolates and marshmallows? <O:p</O:p

ahh, I never thought about how badly Halloween in SA could easily go wrong...

You're right on the candy. :) It's an American word. The only reason I use it here is becasue most people on here are American. Here we call them lollies.

Ah, so do we. I recently did a two day course on business writing, and the facilitator constantly referred to ‘English’ and ‘American’. I thought it was hilarious.

Not really. Though, I kind of want to dress us as V from V for Vendetta, except that I do not want to spend the money to buy a proper costume. I figure it is weird on any other day to walk around like that.

i would advise those that were into witchraft and related and or influenced stuff by it not to celebrate it.

it tends to be a temptation for me and some others that were that way say the same.
