Do you think everyone is a child of God?

7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. 1 John 3:7-10 NIV

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

What do you think an unbeliever is called?

1 Peter 4
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Proverbs 11
31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

1 Timothy 1
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

Just to name a few.

No.

Matthew 7
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

I believe Jesus is speaking to Christian believers who know the truth but mix law and grace. They are saved but will be left outside the gates of the new heaven and the new Jerusalem. The scripture says, "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life." Revelation 21:27 NIV - These Christians have forfeited all their rewards.

The scripture says, "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life." Revelation 21:27 NIV - These Christians have forfeited all their rewards.

Here is the parallel passage in Luke:

23 And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them, 24 "Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 "Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.' 26 "Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets '; 27 and He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.' 28 "In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out. (Luke 13:23-28 NASB)

So we see it is most definitely about missing out on salvation, not about losing rewards in the kingdom. And that he's talking about a very specific group of people, not all people who will not be saved.

These people who will be turned away from the kingdom hung out with Jesus and listened to his teachings, but we see they did not do what he taught. How do we know that? He calls them 'evildoers'. They are guilty of trying to be saved by association and are actually nothing more than the 'hearers only' that James talks about in his letter. A letter where he plainly says that the 'hearing' of faith, alone, is not enough to save a person. It must produce and be accompanied by the 'doing' of faith.

Are these people the children of God? Surely they are in the sense that he birthed them in creation.

"...He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
26 and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth...
28 as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'
29 "Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man." (Acts 17:25-6,28-29 NASB)

This is what helps me believe the theory that everyone's name is written in the Book of Life in the beginning, but then as we all fall into our predictable paths of disobedience and separation from our Father in heaven it is those who then reject the gospel of reconciliation, and who are finally turned over to that decision, who have their names removed from the Book of Life and are not saved.

Originally, as created, yes. After the fall, no. We live in a fractured creation now, and must choose and seek.

Christians that mix grace and law are evildoers. They practice lawlessness. They have become a enemy of God - James 4:4.

14 Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. 15 Outside the city are the dogs (homosexuals)—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers (including gossip, slander), the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie (untruth, error, deception, cheating). Revelation 22:14-15 NLT

These believers mentioned above will be left outside the city (holy city, new Jerusalem) without glorified bodies but will have eternal life. They will not go to hell!

However they will forfeit their five heavenly crowns mentioned in the New Testament; The Imperishable Crown – (1 Corinthians 9:24-25), The Crown of Rejoicing – (1 Thessalonians 2:19), (Revelation 21:4)., The Crown of Righteousness – (2 Timothy 4:8), The Crown of Glory – (1 Peter 5:4), and The Crown of Life – (Revelation 2:10), (James 1:12) . They will need the leaves of the tree for the healing of the nations - Revelation 22:2 NIV.

The only requirement to be saved is: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His [a]only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 NASB

This is why Revelation 19:15 NLT says, "Jesus, He will rule them with an iron rod." In other words He will not tolerate any mess.

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. Revelation 1:3 NKJV

I have received the blessing of revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit.

ilove, did you read the passage I shared?

Someone asked Jesus if just a few will be SAVED. So it most definitely is about salvation. And the weeping and gnashing of those who do not gain entry into the kingdom is not simply a lower, less rewarded place in God's salvation. It's the place of weeping and gnashing of teeth which we see from this passage is the fire:

"50 ...and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:50 NASB)

See? The weeping and gnashing of teeth is synonymous with being thrown into the fire. Unfaithful servants are thrown into the furnace at the end of the age, not assigned to the ghettos outside of the kingdom walls.

Yes I have read it. These are unbelievers that are mentioned in Revelation 21:8 NKJV. It is a difference between Revelation 21:8 NKJV (unbelievers) and Revelation 22:14-15 NLT (believers). I started a forum yesterday asking the question are you a fan or a follower of Jesus Christ. This why Paul says continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. It is true many Christian believers and unbelievers will not enter into the gate. There will be Christian believers inside the gate who live in city of the new Jerusalem, and also have access to the new Heaven. Christian believers who mix grace and law will live outside the gate in the nations, and all unbelievers in hell. Please review The Book Of Revelation.

This post makes me think of the severity of God. There are many scriptures that do this. What is the point of intercession, if those whom we pray for to be saved, have no hope of ever being saved? I therefore have to believe God's mercy can be attained by all men, either in this life or afterwards. Of course ultimately I must trust, that God sees all and knows better than I.
