Here are some lines I've heard about money not buying happiness:

If money can't buy happiness, I guess I'll have to rent it.
Money can't buy happiness--but at least you can chose your own type of misery.
All I ask for is a chance to prove money can't buy happiness.

Does money buy happiness? YES! A thousand times YES!:boing:sohappy

Money purchases land. And money builds homes on that land that permit homeless persons to no longer be so. Money hires tutors to educate the under educated so they can achieve their GED and become gainfully employed. And, if they're of a mind, go to a technical college and better their skills so as to achieve higher success in business. Even starting their own down the road.

Money buys an old antique shop with three floors and in that location affordable to free daycare is made possible for struggling single mothers. Yes indeed, money buys a lot of happiness.

Condemning money is just stupid.
Money isn't the root of all evil. Deep passion for only money is the route to evil.
If someone is against money, having money, leave your home, your bank account, your job. Walk the talk. Live homeless for a year if you can bear it and then get back to us.

Money buys happiness up to a point. There is a certain salary, somewhere around $70,000-$75,000, up to which people are happy. After that, more money does not mean more happy and indeed, much more money can make people unhappy. Having said that, people need to learn to be happy regardless of how much money they have or make.

Does Money Really Buy Happiness?

Only if you give away what you don't need.

hello jay55, dirtfarmer here

Happiness is defined as happenings. Happiness only last for about 6 months and then you need more money to buy some thing new to make you happy for about six months. It is a vicious cycle.

Joy comes from the Lord and doesn't depend on 6 months intervals of new and improved "things", happenings. We can have joy even though things are not "going our way" or in the midst of troubles. The more money that you have the more you are concerned that everyone is trying to steal or rob you.

Give me neither poverty nor riches—
Feed me with the food allotted to me;
Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, “Who is the Lord?”
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.
Proverbs 30:8b-9 NKJV

That sounds very nice but what exactly does it mean?

That was then. I have plenty now. And I can give out $50 gas cards, pay electric bills, pay people's auto repair bills, and even send people to school. Why? Because. with God's help, I learned how to make money work for me.

Okay, so teach us how to handle money the right way.

I think we are shown multiple examples in the Bible where God blessed countless people with great wealth. Do you suppose God was saying "I am doing wrong in this. Having money like I have given to all these people is definitely not the way I want any of your to live." I think He certainly was not.
How about Solomon?
Did God want him to live this way?

If you are really serious, and are willing to invest the time, sacrifice, and work it will take, I can do that.

I mostly invest in mutual funds. Adding stock mutual funds when valuations are good (2008), and then gradually lightening up as valuations become less of a bargain. Anything beyond that has been beyond my understanding. I don't have any idea how to appraise rare art or such things.

There are hundreds of opinions on those aspects. I am talking about people who really have no idea, at all, how to handle even their weekly paycheck.

Oh, you mean budgeting. A certain percentage to housing, transportation, etc... I pretty much do okay with that.
