Doubts about reported healings and supernatural accounts.

Thanks. It just bugs me sometimes when people, especially non believers, are always looking for empirical evidence for the existence of God. If I knew nothing of the miracles laid out for us in the NT and only had knowledge of God's plan of salvation for me, I would have still have come to salvation because it was HE that did the saving.

Those miracles were done for HIS chosen ones and yet they saw and still rejected Jesus. The Apostles were indwelled with the Holy Spirit as Pentecost and their response was to accuse them of being drunk!

My previous point was that I too have doubts about some healings, but my Faith does not hinge on any other miracle but the miracle of redemption. :pray

Good post, but I would of liked to have heard some more!:thumbsup

I have been a Christian for 25 + years.
Over this time I have seen a LOT of claims of healings done in Jesus name.
Usually these healings cannot be proven and are of a trivial nature, like legs supposedly growing out etc.
Yet when it come to REAL needs like people having cancer etc, these healings are no where to be seen in my immediate life.
Though I do believe in God,and I do believe that He heals, all I can say that I have ever seen is cheap side show tricks by noisy "evangelists".

I have a friend who is ALWAYS advocating healings on Facebook, and for some reason it really annoys me because usually they are the phoney healings I earlier refered too.
Am I too synical these days, or has my discernment increased? Dillemma !!!

God Healed me of a brain tumer. He healed my daughters broken arm, He healed a man of the flue. I have seen so many miriacals through out the last 35+ years of my life that for me, miracles just a normal part of my christianity!

I have been in your shoes. I would often hear stories, but I could never seem to verify the accounts. To make matters worse, when you're the one sick and praying for a healing which never comes, you're left wondering, "What's up, God? What's the deal?" Of course, the Christian naysayers always swarming you while chanting, "O' ye of little faith!" For those struggling with faith issues like this, it can sometimes drive them from the faith. (And the naysayers will simply play the "he wasn't part of the elect" card to absolve themselves of any role in the process.)

The way I moved beyond the struggle was to abandon a faith based on what everyone told me to believe and discovered a faith of my own. This is a long process, and it's still on-going. I stopped taking Christian doctrines at face value and started digging into the underlying reasons for the doctrine to see if I agreed with them. I came to agree with an orthodox faith, but I have developed much disdain for modern Christianity. It often pretends to be what the early church taught, but it isn't.

Thus, my encouragement to you, if you have not already done so, explore and discover a faith of your own. If your pastor says, "This is true," then explore why he thinks it's true. Explore if you think it may be true. To quote a teacher from long ago, "A belief is not your own unless you've done the work to make it your own."

Years ago in the middle ages christian crusades some claiming to be Christians did some terrible things. Does than now mean every christian desiring spreading the gospel now has the same intent? Are we all to be bundled up with those who in jesus name have done wrong. If we apply the same logic as being used on those with unusual spiritual gifts then we must alll be as Christians potentially evil and of malice intent because of what other bad things Christians of ill repute have done. It is the same as saying all faith healers are charlatans. It is exactly the same logic.

Because it is perceived some have attempted fakery in healing does that mean the parts of Christs body that are given the spiritual gift of working miracles are to be branded fakes as well and constantly criticized?

why when we look at the garden do we immediately attempt to focus on the weeds and not see the good bits?

There is no supernatural/spiritual in some peoples eyes If you cant accept its there you might as well worship a wooden idol because supernatural spirit is what God/Jesus/holy spirit is. God is in another plane of existence as well most of us only get a small glimpse into as it enters our lives. Some however are gifted better than others to access this for example prophets and the faith healers. I have no problem with it good luck to them. They are parts of the body of Christ doing their job and get my full support.

My daughter just came home a few minutes ago and told me she went for healing last weekend in obedience to God who told her He wanted to heal her of it. She had this ailment for over three years, and tonight it is gone.

All glory to God through Jesus Christ!
Yay!! a story I never tire of hearing. I wish god raised up more people to do it.
