Dowsing

New age? That's not what is depicted in the bible. You suppose Jesus cast out figments of their imaginations? No, I don't see any new age here.

The Bible also talks of fire raining from the heavens, of global floods, and of a multitude of other acts of blatantly divine intervention. These things once happened, but now they don't. Do you similarly believe that God is smiting towns and turning people into pillars of salt right and left? Or perhaps this is something that simply no longer happens, for whatever reason?

As I said, there is no evidence to suggest that all of these things that you fear are demon-powered helltoys. There is, rather, evidence to suggest that they are the domain of silly people playing silly games, and while such frivolities may be stupid and spiritually harmful in that they lead one to rely on powers other than that of God, they are in no way objectively harmful.

And while you persist in speaking in vague generalities about the dangers of such things, you're unable to produce a single credible example of such phenomena. Meanwhile, I've posted articles written by those knowledgeable in such matters detailing the tricks that charlatans use to hoodwink people.

Do those specific things you mention, like fire from heaven, supposed to happen now? Is it prophesied for this era we are in, or at the end? If you are aware of what is prophesied, then it is world prophecy, not the personal spiritual occurences as happened with Jesus. You sound just like a dispensationalist that denies the power thereof.

See above comment. This is the church age, after the sacrifice of Christ, not before. Do you understand the bible at all?

I never said ALL.

Believe what you want. I think the bible gives enough examples to clue us in.

There is no "advantage." Are you just some silly kid?

other side

Any practice of seeking information from "the other side" apart from God is automatically cavorting with demons. You get what you receive, that's why God condemns those practices in Deut 18 and would have them expelled from the land.

I would not downplay what we are up against. It just isn't wise.

Deuteronomy was written by humans. Humans were the only members of the early church. Of course they would condemn those practices that would compete with them and the church. What better way to keep members in line than to create an us against them mentality? There is no evidence of any "other side" anywhere. There is no evidence of any special consequences for those that practice the so called forbidden practices that are not visited upon Christians just as often and sometime even more so.

You are an atheist. You are disqualified at the outset. You believe all things are chemical and chemical-only. So you have no voice on this. Go blow your horn on an atheist site where you can peddle all your anti-God rhetoric and still be in agreement with the board. :smt019

I see that my post saying "we shouldn't be rude to atheists" was deleted. Nice.

Be nice to atheists but do not eat their cookies. Also, be nice to believers and understand the words that they post before letting emotion drive your direction.
