Ever done a bible study or had Christian discussions while sippin' a brewski or having a glass of wine? It seems almost wrong but then I think, eh, it's just a beer...as long as you're not getting blasted...

I couldn't make a call on that, LaMex.. it is between you and the Lord. It's just when drunkenness and lost people or babes in Christ are involved where we have to be careful.LaMexicana said:There's no bondage...I (and she) just enjoy a beer or glass of wine now and then. I'd understand more if I was drinking with a non-Chrisitian and what they thought of what I was doing. But we're both Christians and we weren't trying to seek out anything better or higher than the Lord, we were just chatting and having a drink. We weren't trying to impress or convert anyone...we were bonding and sharing our feelings.

Yep.. so many need freedom FROM those things... we need to be a set apart people.mjjcb said:destiny said:I couldn't make a call on that, LaMex.. it is between you and the Lord. It's just when drunkenness and lost people or babes in Christ are involved where we have to be careful.
Very true, Destiny. A guy in my mens accountability group suggested going to a pub for one of our Bible studies. It would be cool to break out Bibles at a pub. But I was afraid how it would look if we also had a beer in front of us. People wouldn't know we weren't getting drunk, but they might think so. And then they have what appears to be a contradiction or hypocrisy. We ruled it out just on the basis of how it would appear, and also possibly validating someone's justification to stumble.
Lewis W said:I have in my time got drunk and argued about the Bible, with other drunks. And nothing would come of it, but near fights, and blood pressure and tempers, at all time high's. It would never be a Bible study, someone would just mention something Biblically, and it would take off from there. And the next thing you would know, in your drunken haze, you were cussing someone out, or I was being cussed out. Sometimes this was done in the bars, and sometimes in houses. And don't let someone say something to me that was not in the Bible, or was not Biblically true. Because if you did that, it was on. A cuss out was coming. This is my true story of drunks and the Bible. :amen

I used to have alcoholism where I would binge daily after work until I fell asleep - around 12-15 stubbies. The difference when I was converted was miraculous: I was still able to drink as often as I wanted, but did not have the temptations daily and I would not drink so heavily and I didn't get drunk once. So my testimony demonstrates that when you surrender your life to God, He heals the abusive/destructive alcoholism but doesn't force abstinence on us.
My experience with God is that He grants our wishes rather than revokes our rights, so I hope you can be blessed with the same relationship I have with Him ;) He is sooo open minded and supportive. Lord, you are amazing and I Love you with every breath and thought!
