Dropping children off at church

Hi! I am a newbie and have just started attending church again first time as an adult. It's a great church with an adult church and an amazing children's church and we do not like to miss service but my husband works nights and I raise dairy goats and it is difficult to get out for a couple hours on Sunday mornings. Most the time I'm covered in chicken/goat poo or have dirt in my hair at the time we should be leaving. Our children complain when they have to miss.
So I was considering dropping them off on days we couldn't attend. I know some parents put their kids on a church van but I'm not sure how the members of the church really think about that. My kids are elementary age. So how do you all feel about parents dropping their kids off at children's church and picking them up after service? Would it make me look bad? And Is having a little farm and a husband who is exhausted from working the night before a good enough reason to miss here and there? I of course plan to get things more under control so that I can make it but right now we are all missing so many services. I want my kids to at least be able to attend.

Hi there!!
This is a interesting question. It is very important for people to worship together, and the church is the place to do that. How often do you miss services? If it is not that often, perhaps on the days you miss you could turn the chores into a Bible study for the children. If the children do want to go to church I would certainly encourage that, but I wouldn't just drop them off. You might want to talk to some of the members in there and see if there might be some who would watch the children during the service, I'd be willing to say you'd find a few who wouldn't mind. I really don't think that the members would look bad a you for this but rather praise you are making sure your children's spiritual needs are being met.

Ideally we should go to church as family..
That is not always an option..
So what is the next best... :)
Thinking about "how that would make you look" No one can suit every member of every group of people.. Do what is best for your kids...

I don't think it would make you look bad. It sounds like a good idea. If the circumstances are hectic and you can't attend...that's the next best thing. The parents are the spiritual leaders of the family and it would be good to make sure they got those seeds every Sunday. Maybe talk to them about what the heard and learned in church today, after they get home again.

Thank you for your responses and I'm not sure how to respond to anyone's comment yet but yes I've been trying to get up and get things done early but it's just difficult I'm trying. And we began going on Easter and have made only about 12 services. But I think now we can start attending a lot more just not every single one. Sunday morning they have a children's church one which is for kids k-5th grade . The parents go into another part of the church. I still feel awkward there that's why I care what I look like. I'm from an old fashion small church and this is a large new type church. I don't fit in yet that's why I'm worried about it.

What is the message parents send to the children if they drop them off but don't actually attend themselves? Right now they probably want to go because they enjoy it as it is fun for them but eventually their views will change. Will they still enjoy to go simply because it is a time to spend with others in fellowship and worshiping God or will they take on the attitude we seem to have today that attending is just something to do if there isn't anything else going on?

Here's what I see happening in our church. We intentionally schedule our adult Bible study on Sunday morning at the same time as the children's Sunday school classes. There are two reasons for this. First, it is more convenient for the everyone since they all attend at the same time. Second, it is our hope that we encourage the parents to join in the adult study. As the high school leader I see this year after year. Those children whose parents stay for the adult study typically will continue attending Sunday school until they graduate high school and then some continue to attend the adult study. Those whose parents drop them off and don't attend the adult study typically drop out of Sunday school immediately after they have been confirmed. It's sad to see.

My parents and my friends parents never really attended church ever. We all did it on our own. We continued to go only I stopped once I started a family but never lost my faith. All my friends who we t with me be and Sunday School teachers or at least still attend. Our parents not going never bothered us. They didn't really believe. But I will just try harder at getting there. Thank you for the advice.

Nevermind looks like the ones who I weren't friends with are no longer Christians...far from it....I apologize didn't mean to lie. Only the ones in I still kinda keep in touch with still attend.

In churches today it seems we take God and fellowship too much for granted. Somehow, I don't get the impression that is what God expects from us.

It will make you look bad, only to the Legalistic Members and they will find something to gig you about anyway with their Self Righteousness anyway.

I will encourage you to encourage your husband to lead less than a once a week Bible study with your little ones and yourself. It doesn't take a teacher to read scripture and then discuss what they read. And if he refuses, it then becomes your roll to see they you remain grounded by studying and instructing your children in the Bible. Remember to pray and God will bless your efforts and all that you do. I am disabled and travel very little as I am in bed most of the time with MS and God, obviously, still uses me in His ministry.

May God always be your Guide and remember, before the Tabernacle, Moses did not attend Services, formally for over eighty years.

I'd say first and foremost is to honor God with your time, talents and treasure. He knows your heart. After that, it's important that your children know how important the Lord is to you. If they start thinking He takes a back seat to "life", they might be receiving the wrong message.

Attending worship is important to me, because I'm convinced it's important to Him, but not every believer places such importance on it. We go because we want to go. We have a desire to be in fellowship regularly. With that, we'll move virtually anything possible around to be there.

I'm not saying you haven't considered everything you can do to be there with your children, but it would be a tremendous life lesson to your children to sacrifice whatever you need to in order to be there.

That is so true. My German Grandfather was the owner of several farms in or around Somerville, Texas and he raise world class and sought after lines of Blue and Purple Ribbon winning Hogs and the only time time he missed is one of his Money Makers looked like she was having or going to have trouble throwing her piglets. He said it was tough to be at Church, trying to worship when one of his sows we throwing a litter worth more than five thousand dollars and in the fifties that ws a ton of money, it would be lie hundreds (plural) of thousands today, a man could live on that. But if thing were not endangering his Bloodline and income, he was in Service on Sunday.
