Bible Study Earth, not Heaven

What purpose would there be in going to hell?

That doesn't answer the question. God created man and gave him dominion over the earth, He wants man to rule the creation. How is that Purpose served if man is in Heaven?

To answer your question, the purpose of going to hell is the destruction of the wicked.

I guess you will have to find that out yourself when you die.
Could you share a few of the verses that say that Christians go to heaven when they die?

I believe you, of course. But it always nice to see the verses for myself.

There is none, the Bible says that the wages of sin is death, not eternal torment in hell. The body and soul are to be destroyed in Gehenna, the word that is translated Hell in MAtthew 10:28.

Paul was as confident as the rest of us that know Jesus is in heaven that's why he said in..

II Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

The passage says nothing about Heaven, therefore one has to make assumptions to draw the conclusion that people go to Heaven. If you look at the whole passage in context it's clear that Paul is not talking about going Heaven, but rather the resurrection.

Clear to you maybe but not to Paul.. where do you think Jesus is right now Butch?

Jesus is at the right hand of the Father. However, if you read what Paul wrote you'll see He's talking about the resurrection.

NKJ 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2Co 5:1 NKJ)

He's talking about the building from God, if you continue reading it's clear that he is referring to the resurrected body.
