Ebola is in the U.S.

A deadly Ebola-like virus is killing fish of all types in the Great Lakes, a development some scientists fear could trigger disaster for the USA's freshwater fish.
Because of a lack of genetic resistance to viral hemorrhagic septicemia, fish populations could be damaged in the same way the smallpox virus struck Native Americans and Dutch elm disease decimated elm trees, says Jim Winton, chief of fish health at the U.S. Geological Survey in Seattle.

The disease has been found in Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Lake Huron, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Niagara River and an inland lake in New York. The aggressive virus,

All it will take for an epidemic is for ONE person to eat undercooked, infected, fish. Ebola liquifies your insides, causing the victim to vomit blood, and blood comes from every orifice in the body. Ebola spreads rapidly.

This particular virus is NOT harmful to humans. You need to read the original article from USA Today:

The virus does not threaten humans, Bowser says. "If you cook the fish, heat will kill the virus," he says.

You're wrong. Yes, it says IF you cook the fish.
Now, if you DON'T cook the fish, the virus will still be active.
No heat to the virus, virus still alive.
Ingest virus, die from ebola.

All this is going to take is one sushi eating person, or one person who
undercooks the fish, and the epidemic will begin.
This is deadly serious.

Ah. I never thought about sushi. Probably because I've never eaten it.

I see your st. baldrick's logo. Does this organization also do
Locks of Love?
If you participate at one of the local events, then I think Locks of Love might be there to collect the hair. I'm not 100% sure though. You may be responsible for contacting Locks of Love yourself. I didn't participate at a local event. I participated in the "virtual" event and held my shave off at my parents house. My mom was just beginning to lose her hair and she didn't want to go to a public place, so we made it a big party at her house.
:D

If you're ever interested, you can hold your OWN event at a local place. There is a lot of information on the website. People hold events in Irish pubs (usually close to St. Patrick's Day), schools, churches, etc. You pick if you are the organizer.

Sounds great. Do you think an older woman will look ok, growing her hair long?

good move. don't start eating raw fish.
There are over 50 helminthic infections from fish/shellfish (i.e. parasites that parasitizes the human gut) that can infect humans. How do we avoid becoming a "victim". Well for most the answer is just cook your fish

Yeah, but that isn't the type of fish that sushi is made out of, is it?

Either way, I don't eat sushi. I've always wanted to try it, but never have and probably never will.

Oh and I'm sure you would look great with long hair, short hair or NO hair! Mine is growing out pretty fast. I actually have to brush it now and it's finally longer than my hubby's.
