The people who butchered those teenagers have stated themselves (according to the article) that they were unhappy with God (which would imply that they believe in the existence of the Jeudo-Christian God) and so had decided to worship the devil in His place (believing Satan to be very real) they thought the numbers 666 to be significant to their beliefs, the victims graves were marked with an upturned cross etc etc.

LostKid (upon my request) had posted in an older thread some basic information regarding Satanism. He had made it clear to us that there are generally two forms of Satanism: Laveyan Satanism (which you have pointed out, do not condone harming other and in fact do not even believe that Satan exists) and traditional Satanism i.e Devil worshippers, a group of people who very much believe in the existence of God but choose to defy Him by practising an inverted form of Christianity which i think makes it undoubtedly evil because Christ's message at its core is one of love, peace and forgiveness . The eight who have been arrested seem to follow the latter form of Satanism.

Wicca, Laveyan Satanism and Devil worship although very different beliefs, seem to be portrayed by the media etc as one in the same. I assume that this is what you find so un-agreeable about the article and this thread, if this is so, then I feel the same.

There is also The Church of Satan created by Anton LaVey.

This church was part of the center of the Satanic scare of the 80's (Remember the book "Michelle Remeber's"? I read it )

They do not actually worship satan, and are rather atheistic. The use of Christian imagery, such as the pentagram etc., is used more in a satirical way.

They are anti religious and promote the acceptance of your carnal side.

I see. Yes, I'd have to agree those are different in core beliefs. I still do think the above beliefs are destructive, just not as obviously so. I've heard some say that even the Satanism I've posted about intially is not destructive. I find the view somewhat similar to the drunk or the man going to a brothel. Both believe they will find peace; they are looking for the "good" really... just mistaken in the first place about what "good" is.

This statement may sound odd but i know from personal experience that people often say strange thing like this that are so far removed from the truth that they could be mistaken for a joke. Before becoming a Christian i was heavily into Marilyn Manson. One of my freinds told me that he thought that Manson and his music was NOT ANTI-CHRISTIAN! i never laughed so hard in my entire life. :-D

A singers sexuality or religious beliefs do not influence my opinion on their music, although I mainly listen to Christian Rock/Metal, I still do listen to various secular Rock/Metal bands. Musicaly, I still consider him and his band to be very talented, I just do not think it is appropriate for me as a Christian to listen to it any longer.

The imagery, lyrics and a lot of what he says in interviews show that he does not think much of any Christian and Christianity as a whole and he no doubt derives a lot of pleasure from insulting people. I consider some of his behaviour outside of his music to be moraly unacceptable to Christians AND non-Christians alike. For example: on one of his DVD's (I do not recall which one) he was trying to pursuade someone to expose themselves in front of a man in a wheelchair; this is why I refuse to purchase or listen to his music any longer.

I also consider people like him as cowards because the only religion they dare 'comment' on is Christianity and as we all know, western society is fast becoming multi-cultural or havn't any of the anti-Christian Rockstars noticed?

Whats too bad is the fact that atheists choose to argue in a forum against the Lord when he is the one you've put on the stand, you seek to judge Him and whats so ironic he will be your judge on the last day.

If you think Marilyn has a seat all warmed up nice and toasty your in for a surprise, in outer darkness there exists no light only perpetual despair and the agony that you will remember all of this, if you think a computer has memory at 8 Gigabytes of Ram your brain is an eternal memory the hardest hard drive in the world that can't be erased by a program to free up disc space. :

Jesus can clean your entire framework, all that's required is a broken and contrite spirit don't think to present yourself before the King Of Kings with a brash attitude you can't argue your way into His presence. Look for yourself have a gaze at His throne room Isaiah chapter 6

His own commentary isn't even his. Marilyn Manson has given himself completely over to Satan and is now being used as a tool to take people like yourself away from God. Umm, I am pretty sure that the rumor about him performing oral sex on himself is pretty much an urban legend.......

I was a fan of the band for years and I too am sure that it was a false rumour. People were saying that he had some of his ribs removed so that he could perform that act on himself. I also think that he has actualy denied this rumour anyway.

You are giving Manson too much credit. He is just another hollywood singer who is attuned to subgenres of music enough to take just enough to make his music look like fringe, yet still have a pop music sound to get lots of radio play.

His target audience is millions of disaffected teens who rebel against the system, yet buy there shirts that express this distaste with the system at their local suburban mall Hot Topics for $50. And of course these shirts are produced and sold in stores owned by "the system".

I hear it has a breakfast nook, and is warmly decorated. Apparently, instead of an altar to make sacrifices, he has a plush couch and flat screen tv in the living room.

C'mon. These guys do this "shock rock" to get everyone in an uproar for all the free publicity. He probably was behind alot of the urban myths as well. Marilyn Manson is just another hollywood product.
