End Times Question ??

In your "professional opinion " do any of the more educated posters in the end times subject believe this will happen within the next 50 years ? This has always fascinated me. I cannot explain it but to know that you as an individual lived at the very end of (human) existence really intrigues me.

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

There is no professional opinion on this as no one knows when Jesus will return, not even Jesus knows when he will return. The important thing is to be prepared for His coming as when he does the door of salvation is closed forever.

I don't spend much time at all in the End Times Forum for the reason you gave. It's all speculation, as far as I can tell. And in some ways, all the watching for signs reminds me of the narrow-mindedness that Israel had in looking for the Messiah.

One question though. From your wording, it sounds as though Jesus (in His risen state) does not know when He will return. Is this what you're saying here? I'd have to disagree, because I've always understood that what Jesus Said in Matthew 24 was due to Him dwelling among us with the limitations of man, being fully God & fully man.

Philippians 2
"7 but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death"

Hebrews 2 says that He was born "a little lower than angels" which refers to Psalm 8. My understanding would be that He yielded to His humanity when declaring that He didn't know but that our risen Lord, eternally existing in our One God knows when that hour will be.

I don't labor over this, though. It could be tonight, and it could be in 1000 years. I keep oil in my lamp all the same.

Good for you! That is a good start. But you are asking the wrong people as 'i' see it. Read Matt. 4:4 & then see these verses of Thess. which neither mentions the day or hour, but do indeed tell of some who are awake!!:thumbsup
1Thes.5

[1] But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
[2] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
(but to whom, huh?)

[3] For when [they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them], as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. (compare Matt. 24:21 on, for the time of today!)
[5] Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
[6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Not much help there except watch what you read;) And you might want to try the END TIME Thread? Even perhaps the 'MIDNIGHT CRY'.

Do I, a non christian, think the "end of days" is comming within the next 50 years? Looking at the state of the world one could make an argument that there is going to be a major shift in the world's economic, political, and social structure with in that time. Will that mean the end of Humanity? I dont thinnk so. Humanity will probably continue to exist just not in its current fashion.

Hi AnberlinFan,

I think we are living in the end times. Most Christians, I speculate, thought their generation was the last, but it is true we don't know when the end of the age will come. I tend to think about the advent of the nuclear bomb. With the volatile state of the Middle East, I don't think man is smart enough to live in peace, and I think man will use the bomb again.

I've heard the phrase "Living on borrowed time" thrown around quite a bit over the past 10 years or so and it always gets me thinking.

Its been going on a lot longer than ten years;
Yet we have the blessed assurance that every passing day brings our salvation nearer then when we believed. And while it is true that the church, during all her history, has had repeated evidence that the day was approaching, we ask, what are these evidences in our time? Surely they are of especial significance.

Shortly previous to the first coming of Christ the Holy Ghost, although He had given through Daniel a special revelation unto the devout Simeon-who was 'waiting for the consolation of Israel', to-wit:' that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2;26. And this leads us to ask: May not the same blessed Spirit who thus revealed this mighty event to Simeon of old (and probably the aged Anna also) likewise give unto a favored one, or chosen few of the faithful watching ones, to know that their glad eyes shall see His appearing, and that they shall never taste of death. Even so now, many of the most devout and faithful of God's people, in all denominations, both in this and foreign lands, are seriously impressed with the conviction, that the coming of the Lord is near.

Amen Mike as we need to keep oil in our lamp unto his coming. As per your question I am only going by what Jesus said that only His Father knows leading me to believe that Jesus doesn't know when, but only when God says to go.

Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

"Its been going on a lot longer than ten years"

Oh I know but I was much younger and didn't really pay much attention to it. I appreciate the responses everyone!
