episcopalians and female pastors

well yes, the pastor said that only those baptized etc could come up..

However, the reason I was gettign the funny looks, is because my brother and I were the onyl 2 not receiving communion. a majority of the looks came from either the young kids, who didnt perceive this (my little cousins, and their friends) and then from some of the older people (80+)

Some people just don't realize that some people are not religous, or the same religion as them I guess.

I certainly don't want to assume to speak for those people who gave you the looks, but I seem to remember the name of a church in an old Ray Stephens song: First Self-Righteous Church. lol

When you belong to a church that says that only certain people who do certain things will go to heaven, it can tend to create a sort of "superior" thought in ones mind.

For others, it can create a great and deep greivance for those who aren't believers. I went through that. Thinking about all the people who will spend eternity away from God.

I have been watching this topic as I myself have this feeling that women who preach are not sinners. I think the biggest thing why I feel as I do is because Jesus himself had no qualms about teaching women who traveled with him and the other male deciples, women were also deciples. Jesus himself as he was teaching never once said a women could not preach. Back in those times Jesus traveled with women amoung he and his deciples. This in itself back in those days would have raised some eyebrows . Women who where not married to any of the men they traveled with would have been looked upon as scandleous. Yet Jesus did not care the message he preached was for everyone and he did not seem to draw or make a distiction as to men and women. I feel like this if a woman feels she is called by God to preach then she should , all should follow thier calling. If any of the women who preach the word of God can save a soul through their ministering of Gods word then how could God reject a person who has saved a soul from everlasting damnationand instead put that person on the true path to God. That is my opinion on women in the ministry, I know its not popular , but its how I feel bout it.

Yes God does call women to preach. Men can say what they want, but God will use who He wants, and He does. You can't tell me that preachers, for instance like Paula White, and Joyce Meyer, are not called preachers you can see it and feel the anointing on these to women of God. And there are many more. Who do men think they are that they can say, who can go into the pulpit and who can't. They have not that right. God has always used women, so what the problem. They are good enough to teach Sunday school, but are not good enough to teach and preach the Bible in the pulpit. Give me a break. We have women preachers in my church, and I have heard some from God preaching, from many women. If God did not want women to preach he would not anoint them, with the Holy Ghost to preach. But He does. So some of these men need to shut up.

I can. I think they are fake and phony. They preach feel good nonsense, not doctrine. If you watch Paula White, for instance, when she gets in what I call "crazy mode", she says stupid stuff.

It's like she runs out of things to say and ends up saying something dumb. And the crowd just shouts and hoots and cheers. It's quite entertaining. It's something you learn and have to get good at.

You can make a crowd shout with just about anything you say (they, being truly ignorant, though it may not always be their fault).

My dad can do it. He used to preach. It's funny too. You can literally take any topic and get the crowd to shout at it. My dad told me to choose a random topic and he'd preach on it off of the top of his head. I chose "fat people". His sermon was hilarious and was no different than the preachers on TBN etc.

I can vaguely remember some of what he said. Went something like this:

"Ya know, I want to speak on obese people this mornin'. The reason why we have some much trouble with our eating habits is because we do not know when to say 'enough'...

And he went on for a bit and ended with things like "but GEEZUS!!! O, GEEZUS! GEEZUS said, my grace is sufficient for thee!!

And it went so perfect. I don't take televangelists like Paula White seriously.

It's a talent, just like the "gibberish" perpetrated as "tongues". He can do that too.

wavy,
Why would your father being a preacher of Gods word want to do a sermon that was just for what fun, mokery or what. ? To me this speaks volumes on some men who preach. When you are called to be a minister of Gods word you do not in Gods house do something like that. I also feel he used the people in the church who are his flock who trust him , just as an entertanment for you. So I guess he spoke up then and told the people what he had done , didn't he?, and maybe offer an appology for useing them in this manner. ?

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

He is not a minister anymore. The reason he is not because he realized it was phony. Because their messages can be touching (in a cheap sense, however) does not mean they preach true doctrine or are Spirit-filled.

That's why my dad can preach as he does, even in mockery. It's not anything special. It's a talent. Something you have to learn to do.

Not to say that all preachers are like this, so don't get me wrong. I was just speaking in the context of women like Paula White. "Looking" at her, as Lewis suggested, cannot possibly tell you she is "anointed". My dad, joking around and on a whim can do the same thing and make it look real. He used to do it and knows he was a hypocrite.

Oh, I see, you thought he did this in a church...lol

No, he was talking to me at home. We were watching TBN or something and were in awe about how fake and dumb some people sound sometimes...

wavy,
Sorry if I misunderstood what you wrote. When reading it I did think you meant that he did this in a church that he was pastoring in.

Oh, puh-leeeeeeze!!!! Stop already with the madness. Joyce"Moneybags" Meyer and her multi-million dollar homeS(plural) and yachts(plural) and glitzy lifestyle. How convenient it all is! And these poor shmucks just pour into these cross-country seminars of hers. Yes, men do the same; however, God never has, and never will, call a woman to preach, let alone be ordained. It is rank HERESY.

First of all, my question to everyone here is why would someone like peace4all even remotely understand the plan of the God we worship when she doesn't believe as we do.

I bet if she became a Christian, she would refrain from disagreeing with what scripture states and have a new outlook of things. Sexism wouldnt' even be a consideration.

While I will admit I don't fully understand why God designed this the way he did doesn't change the fact that he did. He has his reasons and they are perfect.

Bottom line is men and women are different. Science is proving this more and more. This doesn't mean one is better than the other just different. It is the same with God. He designed us different and has different tasks for men and women. This doesn't mean one is more important in Gods eyes than another just different.

As God has stated when a man and woman marry they become one. This covers more than just the physical act of becoming one. This also means the couple will become 1 rounded individual (I'm not explaining this well so I hope you understand) fully capable of doing Gods will together that neither could do as well on their own.

When a man or a woman tries to take the role of the other then the balance that God has designed becomes skewed. This also has the tendency for competition to arise between the couple which could lead to fights and divorce.

The same holds true for single people as well. The roles are different but none are more important than another.

No the sexism comes when you impose rules on others. For example preventing a woman from doing a job she is good at because you feel only men should do it is sexism. And science proves more and more that when girls are expected to succeed they do better. If I was born in a different period I'd never have the opportunity I have now to study physics and do what I am good at. What if I'm not cut out to be a housewife? Goodness knows I don't want to be.

Not really since many Christians hold different opinions.
