True blue pops up all over the place but theres no such thing as true blue anything. Allot of people go on about being true blue australians yet 80% came from countries other then australia in some aspect. In the same way an athiests view will always change depending on the person. Theres no set of rules for athiests or ten commandments so to each his own.

I just wanted to say that what I mean by "True Blue Atheist" is that
I find it very difficult to believe that a real atheist would believe in
evolution. Being an atheist and an evolutionist contradict one another.
Thats like being a Nun and a prostitute.
Evolution is religious.Atheism is religious free,so why would an atheist
accept evolution,especially with all it's many problems and it's missing

Mrs. Eyeliner has a point, since evoultion has become such an obcession to some of you atheist,[ no offense intended my atheistic friends] you really have gotten a taste for what religion is like. You all are very devoted to this cause, I've read many of your posts, and it seems that you would not like to give up this opinion for any cost. I wish you could give such a devotion to the Father. Serving him has a much more affordible cost, and in most cases, he will return the costs of this full-surrender that is accepting the Gospel of the Messiah. Love and Blessings to you all.

Well, Brutus, you think you may have it all figured out about us atheists. But you can’t figure out anything you don’t understand. My religion is not evolution. My beliefs are not evolutionary in origin.

A religion is defined as 4 things.

Evolution is not supernatural, it is in fact a naturalistic explanation of the variation of life. It is a mechanism. Evolution has nothing to do with the creation or governing of the universe.

2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.

As evolution is not number 1, it is therefore not number 2, because number 2 is a result of number 1.

3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.

Evolution is not a set of beliefs, it is a mechanism. I have my own set of beliefs. It is not a value, I have other values that do not relate to evolution. And it is not a practice, because I do not practice evolution. And there are no spiritual leaders in evolution, because evolution is not a supernatural explanation.


4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

Evolution is not a cause, it is a mechanism, it has no goal to achieve. Evolution is not a principle, as I don’t live my life by evolution. It is also not an activity, because individuals do not try to evolve (in the sense of evolution). That being said, discussing, and debating evolution, would be an activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion. Any part of our daily life could be construed as religious according to this definition, if we do it on a regular basis. Our jobs even.

So you see Brutus, evolution is not a religion, nor should it be. It says nothing of how humans behave, how they should act, or what they should strive to do. Do you know why? Because Science goes on naturalistic explanations, and leaves supernatural things to people with supernatural beliefs, that is why.

Evolution is not the activity that I pursue with zeal, it is debating, and discussing. Obtaining knowledge in every form.

Why should I devote myself to your God? He is no different than any other God before him. For what reason should I believe he exists??

Brutus, I've been lurking around here for months, so I know exactly what B.E.L. means when she says that.

What B.E.L. is saying is that an Atheist denies religion, when it is just the denial of God. As she is using an incorrect deffinition in her arguement, it is unsurprising that she has come to a fallicious conclusion about Atheists and evolution.

If, however, B.E.L. meant to say that Atheism is God free, then her arguement against an Atheist accepting evolution (a religion in her eyes) is meaningless as evolution (if it is indeed a religion) worships no God and in therefore not in conflict with Atheism.

As a result of this, your post doesn't explain what B.E.L. is trying to say as your post is talking about something different. (although it does have a point in that there are people that are devoted to evolution in a semi-religious way)

Question? You are an Atheist, right?

At least for my part (and I will let my co-horts speak for themselves, though I suppose they would agree), my obsession is not related to evolution per se.

Why I have stuck around, and participate here, is because I hate to see science, logic and reason perverted.

Most of the scientific claims here are simply wrong, dependent on fringe, non-peer reviewed research. The logical claims made are also often lacking.

Evolution only provides a medium to discuss the larger issue, which is the underlying scientific method and validity used to support or disprove it.

Which is why when a thread diverges from evolution to cosmology or other related topics, we follow with the same vigor, since they also question accepted, current scientific conclusions and theories.

An athiest is a person that doesnt put there trust into any God. They dont have to put there trust in eveolution. Evolution isnt considered religion because it has no God. But having a religion and acting religously are 2 different things. e.g some people go to the footie games religously others wouldnt dare miss there favourite tv show. I would say some athiests are into evolution religously but arent religous. Then others just dont care.
