Evolution The Other Religion 2013

Never mind the increasing evidence—64 percent of white evangelical Protestants reject the science, and professors at Christian colleges are attacked if word gets out they teach it.
Evolution did not fare well in 2013. The year ended with the anti-evolution book Darwin’s Doubt as Amazon’s top seller in the “Paleontology” category. The state of Texas spent much of the year trying to keep the country’s most respected high school biology text out of its public schools. And leading anti-evolutionist and Creation Museum curator Ken Ham made his annual announcement that the “final nail” had been pounded into the coffin of poor Darwin’s beleaguered theory of evolution.

The creationist inquistion is still active, but it's not as feared as it once was, for a very simple reason:

A New Creation Story
Why do more homeschoolers want evolution in their textbooks

Christian homeschool science textbooks have long taught young earth creationism (YEC) almost exclusively. But observers say a growing number of parents want texts that also teach evolution.
"Homeschooling has broadened so much, and now includes many Christian groups who have never adopted [YEC]," said homeschool pioneer Susan Wise Bauer, a history professor at Virginia's College of William and Mary. "Also, there are a lot of younger evangelicals who have come to a different way of understanding Genesis, while still holding [on to their] evangelical roots."

Here's what's happening:

By religious affiliation...
pew-evolution2013-2.png

And the fastest growing group is Hispanic Catholics. ID, the latest reworking of the Adventist YE religion, is still staggering from the Dover trial, in which one of their leaders admitted that ID is science in the same sense that astrology is science. More bad news for creationism here:

With more and more people extending their education beyond high school, it's not surprising that the groups that have been traditionally least educated, are those most likely to believe in ID or creationism, rather than traditional Christianity.

Evolution did not fare well in 2013. The year ended with the anti-evolution book Darwin’s Doubt as Amazon’s top seller in the “Paleontology” category.

Meyer is pretty much preaching to the choir. When it was revealed he did a little creative work on the words of a real paleontologist (who then wrote a devastating review of the book, pointing out numerous factual errors), that pretty well took it out as far as biologists are concerned.

The state of Texas spent much of the year trying to keep the country’s most respected high school biology text out of its public schools.

A lot of districts in middle-class areas just bypassed using a textbook entirely. My district, for example, just wrote the curriculum so online resources could be effectively used to bypass the politically-correct textbooks.

And leading anti-evolutionist and Creation Museum curator Ken Ham made his annual announcement that the “final nail” had been pounded into the coffin of poor Darwin’s beleaguered theory of evolution.

What's that the 20th time? Ham's been looking to shut down Darwin longer than the Cubs have been trying to win the World Series. With as much success.

There has been a definite shift in the acceptance of evolution...

YouGov is an international market research firm with a reputation for accurate polling figures. According to their website, YouGov focuses on “pioneering the use of technology to collect higher quality, in-depth data for companies, governments, and institutions so that they can better serve the people that sustain them.”

The polling results show that 21% of Americans subscribe to naturalistic evolution, believing that God had no direct role in creating humans. One-fourth of Americans believe God used evolution to create humans, while 37% say God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years. Thus, in total, 46% believe that humans evolved from lower life forms, 37% do not believe humans evolved, and 17% are undecided.

Additional data from YouGov’s research also denotes that the theory of evolution is gaining popularity with younger generations. Though only 17% of those aged 45-64 say humans’ existence can be attributed to evolution without God, nearly one-third of young adults (ages 18-29) express support of this view. In contrast, support for “young earth” creation appears to be waning—only 21% of young adults identify with this belief, even though 43% of 30- to 44-year-olds do.

Clarify what you mean by "attacked". Is it physical, emotional, psychological, or we they just corrected and now whining about it?
Evolution did not fare well in 2013.
Actually it did pretty well when it still exists and nothing has replaced it with the same amount of supporting evidence. A bunch of people posting on the internet old tired arguments doesn't actually do anything to theories.

The year ended with the anti-evolution book Darwin’s Doubt as Amazon’s top seller in the “Paleontology” category.
So what, a book being popular doesn't mean its true.

The state of Texas spent much of the year trying to keep the country’s most respected high school biology text out of its public schools.
I wouldn't consider a state purposely banning a book to shelter ignorance a plus.

And leading anti-evolutionist and Creation Museum curator Ken Ham made his annual announcement that the “final nail” had been pounded into the coffin of poor Darwin’s beleaguered theory of evolution.
Ken Ham can say whatever he wants. It doesn't mean its actually true. Ken Ham has on numerous occasions admitted that evidence doesn't matter, its what he already believes that matters. That means he has no credibility.

Nah, considering that everything so far has been fantasy and delusions of victories, I don't see the point. :)

I clicked on the article out of cynical interest. I have to say, Turn did you actually read the article? After you get past what you are showing us here, its made clear that the article writer is pro theory of evolution. The guy accepts it and points out the large tragedy of Christian Universities that value image over truth.

The guy also points out the tragedy of the polarizing nature the current anti evolution movement is causing in our own government and churches. Its due to this polarization that many leaving Christianity. You made your own counter argument.

Evolution is the religion of atheism.. communism.. socialism.. if there's a shift is just another sign of the times the quest for separation of God and state.. until we reach the state of Antichrist its been headed that way for years its biblical.. What your witnessing now is the Lord separating the sheep from the goats.. :wave

Evolution is the religion of atheism..

How is it then, that Darwin ended his book with this:
There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved.
(Last Sentence of The Origin of Species)

communism..

Odd then, that Stalin outlawed Darwinism, and imprisoned and killed Darwinian geneticists.

if there's a shift is just another sign of the times the quest for separation of God and state..

If "the times" means "1801", maybe. That's when Thomas Jefferson first used the phrase to describe the Constitutional protections of our religious freedom.

until we reach the state of Antichrist its been headed that way for years its biblical.. What your witnessing now is the Lord separating the sheep from the goats..

He told us how He would separate them. And it's not based on their acceptance or rejection of evolution. Might be worth your time to find out.

Like i said: Evolution is the religion of atheism.. communism.. socialism.. if there's a shift is just another sign of the times in the quest for separation of God and state..

Evolution is the religion of atheism..
Considering that we another thread where posters fail to show how Evoltuion is a religion. Your point is wrong.

communism.. socialism..
The communist manifesto predates The Origin of Species and the USSR favored Lemarkism over Darwinian theory. You have been shown this several times. So now are a dishonest liar.

I won't hold my breath on that. Considering people like you have been saying we are in the end times since the fall of Rome.

From tob's source:

An alarming study by the Barna group looked at the mass exodus of 20-somethings from evangelicalism and discovered that one of the major sources of discontent was the perception that “Christianity was antagonistic to science.” Anti-evolution, and general suspicion of science, has become such a significant part of the evangelical identity that many people feel compelled to choose one or the other. Many of my most talented former students no longer attend any church, and some have completely abandoned their faith traditions.

YE creationism is a very efficient atheist-maker. That is it's primary danger and that for which it will have to answer at Judgement. i Barna's findings: (remember Barna is an evangelical Christian organization)

One of the reasons young adults feel disconnected from church or from faith is the tension they feel between Christianity and science. The most common of the perceptions in this arena is “Christians are too confident they know all the answers” (35%). Three out of ten young adults with a Christian background feel that “churches are out of step with the scientific world we live in” (29%). Another one-quarter embrace the perception that “Christianity is anti-science” (25%). And nearly the same proportion (23%) said they have “been turned off by the creation-versus-evolution debate.” Furthermore, the research shows that many science-minded young Christians are struggling to find ways of staying faithful to their beliefs and to their professional calling in science-related industries.

Well, I'll bring it to you, then:
Matthew 25:31 And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty. [32] And all nations shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left. [34] Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [35] For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in: [36] Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.

Don't see any "Rational, and you taught me creationism." According to God, He will separate the sheep and the goats, depending on whether or not they were charitable to the less fortunate.

Might be best to do it His way. Just saying...

Clarify what you mean by "attacked". Is it physical, emotional, psychological, or we they just corrected and now whining about it?

Ken Ham can say whatever he wants. It doesn't mean its actually true. Ken Ham has on numerous occasions admitted that evidence doesn't matter, its what he already believes that matters. That means he has no credibility.

Nah, considering that everything so far has been fantasy and delusions of victories, I don't see the point. :)

Actually what Ken Hamm is saying is that no matter what the "evidence" is that man comes up with - if it doesn't align with the Word of God, then it's wrong, and therefore wrong for the Believer, because the Holy Bible says God did it all in 6 days (yoms) and that all was GOOD (no death, no sickness, no disease, no poverty, etc).

Evolution starts with a lie (how can anything come out of nothing - prove it), so how can it end in truth? IT'S A THEORY for a reason. It takes faith to believe something you got no proof for. If evolution were true you should be able to demonstrate it. Take a bunch of metal, set off explosives a ba-zillion times and there will never be a new Lexus or Mercedes sitting there. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. It takes somebody with intelligence to design it and build it - that is what happened to give us Lexuses and Mercedes, and MANKIND. Don't find out this is true too late. Find out now.

How does separating the sheep from the goats have anything to do with what you just said:

ally what Ken Hamm is saying is that no matter what the "evidence" is that man comes up with - if it doesn't align with the Word of God, then it's wrong,

Actually, he's saying that if the evidence doesn't align with Ken Hamm's new interpretation of the word of God, it's wrong. Whether or not you imagine the "days" of Genesis to be literal ones, it is Hamm's arrogance and pride that led him to set himself in God's place.

Evolution starts with a lie (how can anything come out of nothing - prove it),

Evolutionary theory doesn't say something came from nothing. Hamm just tells you that to keep you giving.

so how can it end in truth?

Directly observed.

IT'S A THEORY for a reason.

Yes. A theory is a hypothesis that has been confirmed by evidence. Perhaps you've been confused by the popular use of "theory" to means something unsure.

It takes faith to believe something you got no proof for.

Evidence. That's why Darwin's book is one long recitation of evidence. That's how science works.

If evolution were true you should be able to demonstrate it.

Undergraduates do that every year. Always works.

Take a bunch of metal, set off explosives a ba-zillion times and there will never be a new Lexus or Mercedes sitting there. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.

You honestly think that's what evolutionary theory says? I'd hate science, too, if I thought it was like that.

It takes somebody with intelligence to design it and build it - that is what happened to give us Lexuses and Mercedes, and MANKIND.

Designers can build cars. But so far, only a Creator can make living things. Design is what we do because we can't create. Your God is no mere "space alien designer" as the IDers suppose He is. He has no need to design, being omnipotent knowing all.

Don't settle for a mere "designer." The Creator is much more awesome. And He actually exists.

As I mentioned, he is intentionally dishonest.a

Evolution starts with a lie (how can anything come out of nothing - prove it), so how can it end in truth?
The theory of evolution does not say something came from nothing. Whoever told you that is lieing.
IT'S A THEORY for a reason
Yes, because that is the highest point in science a model can become.
It takes faith to believe something you got no proof for.
Science doesn't use proofs. Science uses supporting evidence.
If evolution were true you should be able to demonstrate it.
It's easily demonstrateable. Have you ever looked into phylogeny?
Take a bunch of metal, set off explosives a ba-zillion times and there will never be a new Lexus or Mercedes sitting there. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.
That isn't evolution. Evolution is a phenomenon that happens in living organisms.
It takes somebody with intelligence to design it and build it - that is what happened to give us Lexuses and Mercedes, and MANKIND.
I don't accept the designer argument because I don't accept arguments from ignorance.
Don't find out this is true too late. Find out now.
Considering you aren't aware of what evolution is and use copy paste arguments that have nothing to do with evolution, I think I'll pass.

After Hamm et al got caught altering the statement of scientists to make it appear that they believed things they did not, they have no credibility remaining. If they are on God's side, why would they use the tools of His enemy?

Evolutionism Quotes
While organisms do change through time, this quality of life is driven by a complex cellular machinery. To assume that the sophisticated systems within the cell could have arisen by pure chance requires a tremendous amount of faith in statistical improbability. Our world has many features that testify to the existence of an intelligent designer. God's handiwork is readily evident in nature, and therefore, it may indeed require less faith to believe in God than the possibility that complex structures could simply develop by themselves.

Evolution is a theory of desperation for those that refuse to accept the obvious -- we were created for a purpose. To believe in evolution requires faith because the origin of life and the production of new information through mutation has not been demonstrated under any conceivable circumstance. Is evolution then a science or a religion? Many have stated it is the latter. Evolution has unquestionably been spawned by atheistic philosophy, and is the key instrument used by secular humanism to explain the existence of humans independent of God.

"Humanism is the belief that man shapes his own destiny. It is a constructive philosophy, a nontheistic religion, a way of life." American Humanist Association, promotional brochure.

[Evolution]“…a full-fledged alternative to Christianity…Evolution is a religion. This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today.”Michael Ruse. Saving Darwinism from the Darwinians. National Post (May 13, 2000). pB-3.

“As the creationists claim, belief in modern evolution makes atheists of people. One can have a religious view that is compatible with evolution only if the religious view is indistinguishable from atheism.”Will Provine, No Free Will. Catching Up with the Vision, Ed. By Margaret W. Rossiter (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1999) pS123.

“…evolution is the backbone of biology and biology is thus in the peculiar position of being a science founded on unproven theory. Is it then a science or a faith? Belief in the theory of evolution is thus exactly parallel to belief in special creation. Both are concepts which the believers know to be true, but neither, up to the present, has been capable of proof.” L.H. Matthews, "Introduction to Origin of the Species, by Charles Darwin (1971 edition), pp. x, xi.

[The theory of evolution] "forms a satisfactory faith on which to base our interpretation of nature." Harrison Matthews. Introduction to Origin of Species (1977 edition) p. xxii.

"In fact [subsequent to the publication of Darwin's book, Origin of Species], evolution became, in a sense, a scientific religion; almost all scientists have accepted it and many are prepared to `bend' their observations to fit with it. . To my mind, the theory does not stand up at all . . If living matter is not, then, caused by the interplay of atoms, natural forces, and radiation, how has it come into being? . . I think, however, that we must go further than this and admit that the only acceptable explanation is Creation. I know that this is anathema to physicists, as indeed it is to me, but we must not reject a theory that we do not like if the experimental evidence supports it." H.S. Lipson, "A Physicist Looks at Evolution," Physics Bulletin, Vol. 31, p. 138 (1980) [emphasis his].

“The theory of evolution is impossible. At base, in spite of appearances, no one any longer believes in it….Evolution is a kind of dogma which the priests no longer believe, but which they maintain for their people.” Paul Lemoine. Encyclopedie Francaise 1937 edition. (President of the Geological Society of France and director of the Natural History Museum in Paris.)
