[_ Old Earth _] evolution

So you think making observations about the physical world is useless? Evolution is what we see when we look at the history of life on our planet, wishful thinking and ignoring the evidence is one means of rejecting it. The fact of the matter is that it is not incompatible with Christianity at all, it is incompatible with certain interpretations favored by the modern fundamentalist movement sure. However, the description you offered with us coming to be like Christ has nothing to do with evolution as it takes place on a genetic level.

This whole "God's evolution vs the World's evolution," is not actually a thing.
Thank you for your opinion Doulos.
My take was also an opinion.
I'm surprised you didn't "pick up" on where my opinion came from.

Doulos, please excuse me.
Let me add;
My thoughts of the subject come from C.S.Lewis.
Because his thoughts on the subject were not exactly my thoughts, I did not credit him.
Maybe I should of at least referenced him.
But then someone would read what he said and tell me I misinterpreted him.
There's always some kind of loop in these type of threads.
I guess I'm out of my league on this forum, yet, I still wanted to express myself on the subject.

The central idea of the Myth is what its believers would call ‘Evolution’ or ‘Development’ or ‘Emergence,’ just as the central idea in the myth of Adonis is Death and Re-birth. I do not mean that the doctrine of Evolution as held by practising biologists is a Myth. It may be shown, by later biologists, to be a less satisfactory hypothesis than was hoped fifty years ago. But that does not amount to being a Myth. It is a genuine scientific hypothesis. But we must sharply distinguish between Evolution as a biological theorem and popular Evolutionism or Developmentalism which is certainly a Myth.
C.S. Lewis, The Funeral of a Great Myth

C.S. Lewis clearly believed that Christians can accept evolution as common descent without doing violence to their faith. This is what Lewis was getting at when he wrote to evolution critic Bernard Acworth, "I believe that Christianity can still be believed, even if evolution is true."18 In Lewis's view, whether God used common descent to create the first human beings was irrelevant to the truth of Christianity. As he wrote to one correspondent late in his life, "I don't mind whether God made man out of earth or whether 'earth' merely means 'previous millennia of ancestral organisms.' If the fossils make it probable that man's physical ancestors 'evolved,' no matter."

Smart guy, Lewis. He had a little difficulty with the details, but he understood that evolution fits nicely into God's purposes.

You posted in a forum where we are debating the subject of evolution, and made certain assertions about it in relation to "God's evolution," of course characterizing those who believe in evolution as "wordly."

If you're surprised that I responded your opinion, then to be honest, perhaps you misunderstand the purpose of this forum which is in the discussion and debate category.
