Faith of Christ

Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The faith of Christ is understood as we study these scriptures to name a few in the KJV, John 12:44-50; Galatians 2:16; Philippians 3:9). The newer translations has changed where it says faith of Christ to faith in Christ. There is a difference between faith of Christ and faith in Christ as you can read in those scriptures out of the KJV. The faith of Christ is what He believed in the Father as He never said or did anything above that which God gave Him to speak or to do while He was on earth, John 12:49, 50. Our faith in Christ is the same faith of Christ He had in the Father as we can never go above that of what He taught us and the works He left for us to follow in.

The Son of God is that free gift of God's grace given to all who will believe by faith in Christ and confess Him as Lord and Savior so they will see the kingdom of God, John 3:5-7; Romans 10:9, 10. There is no working towards something that is free as all we have to do is accept the gift. Believe is a verb that means something we consider to be true as we have heard the Gospel and not only heard it, but also believe what is written for our well being.

Faith works come after we are Spiritually born again and indwelled with the Holy Spirit that empowers us to go out into the world and continue in the good works of the Lord, Acts 2:37, 38; James 2:14-20. The good works are taking His Gospel message to the world as we too are His disciples and to love and help those in need as what we do we do unto the glory of the Lord Christ Jesus, Matthew 25:31-40

I believe that the faith of Christ is referring to His Faithfulness and obedience to the Father's Will. And those He was Surety for are Justified by His faithfulness. Rom 5:19

Just as Christ was faithful and obedient to God here on earth we are to be faithful to God and obedient to His commands as Christ was/is. Christ is our faith that we believe He truly is the Son of God and redeemed us from our repented sin when we humbled our self before Him asking for forgiveness. Now we need to let Him reign in our life.

Again, The scripture is clear that many were Justified, made Righteous by His One Obedience/Faithfulness Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Would you consider Christs Obedience Faithfulness ? I do

Would you state what translation you are using please.

I have looked at your first two Bible references and in the big and new king James they both say " faith in Jesus " not faith of Jesus.
I use the KJV, but if you read that there is faith in Christ and the faith of Christ taught in the scriptures.

Of course the obedience to the Father is faithfulness as Jesus even prayed thy will be done.

Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

We can only be justified if we accept God's free gift of grace that comes by the life, death and resurrection of Christ who now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us.

Okay then, by that Faithful Obedience of One many are made Righteous, thats my point.

If you would listen we are agreeing. Our faith in Christ is the same faith of Christ who walked in obedience to the Father.

Faith of Christ refers to faith from Christ, which is what we receive from Him when He speaks to us.

This should be understood as the primary or foundational meaning of faith.

Yes, “faith works“ come after we are born again, however the principle (law) of faith dictates that the work of obedience is required to “complete” faith, so that it operates (functions) to produce the intended divine result.

Paul calls this the obedience of faith.

When a person hears the Gospel from someone sent by the Lord, they now have faith. It’s up to the person who hears the Gospel to obey (believe) it (repent) in order for their faith to justify them and produce the intended result of salvation.

Do you believe that the faith of Christ saved all for whom He died? I do
Yes, to all who will believe and accept Him as Lord and Savior as the free gift of God's grace is through faith in whom Jesus is our faith/free gift of God's grace given to all who will accept Him, Ephesians 2:8; John 3:16.

Sounds like to me you are talking about more than One Obedience/faithfulness to make them righteous. According to Rom 5:19 whose one obedience/faithfulness makes many righteous ?

not to go all church-y on this, but irrespective of which translation one prefers, the concept -- the imputed righteousness of The Lord -- is the same, and its a big part of traditional, Protestant doctrine.

I find myself thinking more on this, lately...and feeling more (re)assured in my own salvation and that "...He who has begun a good work in you shall see it through to the end..." (paraphrase), so...

-obviously- this thread is helpful. thank you. :)

The ones who are righteous are those who practice righteousness.

JLB
They were made righteous by the obedience of one ! Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
