Belief in Deity

The universe, life, and matter were not created by God but "are" God. The universe and life emerged out of the creative power of the eternal universal life force.

After Death
Some believe in continual rebirth--no death--as life is spirit. Some believe that our souls rest for a time before deciding on a new body (or bodies). Heaven and hell are states of consciousness, self-imposed, due to ignorance of God as all.

Why Evil?
No original sin, no Satan, and no evil. Most believe people make "mistakes" when they are ignorant of the power of goodness, which is God, within themselves and others. Some believe evil is perpetuated through accumulation of past-life wrongs and spiritual ignorance.

Salvation
Salvation lies in the realization of oneness with the impersonal life force. Awareness can be heightened through methods that induce altered states of consciousness, e.g., hypnosis, meditation, music, drugs. Spiritual "tools" include crystals, tarot cards, amulets, channeling, fortunetellers and psychics. Some believe the salvation of humanity will occur when a critical mass is reached, when people converge in experiencing their oneness with God and with each other. This will bring a New World Order or new Planetary Order, resulting in oneness of civilization and one-world government, peace, and harmony.

Undeserved Suffering
Suffering is the result of greed, hatred, and spiritual ignorance in a person's, or humanity's, past lifetimes, which returns as suffering (karma). Suffering is sometimes viewed as occurring for a specific purpose, to further spiritual growth and learn a life lesson. Suffering is also seen as illusory, in that it results from attachment to bodily pleasure and pain, and only the universal life force within, God, truly exists.

Contemporary Issues
Abortion is not condemned, as there is no official doctrine. Generally, adherents are supportive of a woman's right to choose abortion.

It’s rather ridiculous how much new age concepts have gone mainstream. And also how many can dabble in the occult and past life experiences while also being self professed Christians because they had a born again experience.

I think over emphasizing emotional experiences at the church level is fueling the problem to some extent.

It's a de facto civil religion called "Moralistic Therapeutic Deism."

According to my studies, deism is different from New Age or Higher Consciousness thought. Deism believes that God created the universe but left it to fend for itself; New Age or Higher Consciousness doesn't. With the latter, pantheistic belief, we're all parts of God. The nine Star Wars movies promote the Force, which is a perfect example.

According to my studies, deism is different from New Age or Higher Consciousness thought. Deism believes that God created the universe but left it to fend for itself; New Age or Higher Consciousness doesn't. With the latter, pantheistic belief, we're all parts of God. The nine Star Wars movies promote the Force, which is a perfect example.

You may have heard of the first and second laws of thermodynamics, the first states that IN A CLOSED SYSTEM, no matter or energy can be naturally created or destroyed; and the second, IN A CLOSED SYSTEM, all matters naturally deteriorate from an orderly state to a disorderly state, and energies from available form to unavailable form. For example, a glass of hot water cools down to room temperature, the available source of heat becomes unavailable. The degree of disorder is known as "entropy", it's like sin that when left to its own devices without external input, it'll naturally increase and never decrese. In other words, IN A CLOSED SYSTEM, the amount of energy remains constant, energy can only be transformed but never created; also, left to its own devices, energy will natrually and irreversibly be transform from available state to unavailable state.

From here, it is reasonable to conclude that according to the first law, the universe cannot have created itself. For the universe to exist, an external creator OUTSIDE the system is required, and that obviously is God, that's where Deism comes from; however, if the universe is left to fend for itself, it would've died out in a "heat death" by reaching maximum entropy, this belief fails to follow the second law, that's its fatal flaw. A fridge doen't naturally freezes, an oven doesn't naturally heats, both require an external input of electricity, without it they remain in the same room temperature. Therefore, not only an external creator OUTSIDE the system is required, an external maintainer OUTSIDE the system is also required. I think the New Age might've got some of that, they correctly understand the necessity of this external input, but they incorrectly identify ourselves as "parts of God" instead of image bearers of God. In the analogy of electricity, we're at best wall outlets, not parts of the power plant. As much as an outlet cannot generate any electricity by itself, we cannot "promote" any of that "force" by ourselves.
