Noticed on old movie thread got resurrected from the dead, and was about to respond when I realized that there are so many genres that trying to throw them all under a single heading wouldn't really do the trick. So I'll start one off on comedies, since it's what my wife and I enjoy the most, and I'm always looking for something else we might enjoy whenever I can find it.

List your favorite (Top 20 if you have them) comedies of all time. Btw, I realize that there is a certain amount of language/nudity/and or sexually suggestive humor in many movies, so please take some of my own response as definitely not recommended for children, and I fully understand that some Christians might take exception as well. If any on your own list contain the above, please list it for the sake of anyone who might be sensitive to such things.

My favorite comedies would include (in no certain order).

1. The Proposal, with Sarah Bullock and Ryan Nielsen. One scene with nudity, but a charming movie.
2. The Three Amigos. A classic. I still quote from it sometimes.
3. Death at a Funeral (English Version). This one has both nudity and language, but it's hilarious.
4. The Best of Times, with Robin Williams and Kurt Russell.
5. Beautician and The Beast, Fran Drescher
6. For Richer Or Poorer, Tim Allen and Kristie Alley. Silly at first, but turns out to be a wonderful movie by the end.
7. The Milagro Beanfield War, a great Robert Redford film that went largely under the radar.
8. Cherokee Kid, a Sinbad movie.
9. Major Payne, with Damon Williams. Not my wife's kinda movie, but it fits my character, LoL. Some language.
10. Fools Rush In, Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek.

11. Of note, I also loved the Monk TV series, and we own all eight seasons on DVD.

Groundhog Day and Tommy Boy would make my list as well. :) Haven't seen some of the others, so thanks.

A few other notables I missed:
12. Funny Farm, staring Chevy Chase and Madolyn Smith, which is also a great Christmas movie.
13. The Whole Shebang, staring Stanley Tucci. The family business (fireworks) becomes a metaphor for living a life of passion, Lol.
14. Life Is Beautiful, Roberto Benigni and his wife Nicoletta Braschi. Only Benigni could take a theme as dark as the Holocaust and bring the bright side of life out of it through comedy. Excellent film.
15. Johnny Stecchino, another Benigni film, and just as funny (a little less dark).

I loved back to the future! I should watch those again! Yeaah I definitely preferred the earlier seasons of Simpsons. I still watch it but it is a bit "weird" now. I don't really get random storylines that don't make sense as humor

Old school reruns:
Little Rascal's, yes I'm that old lol
I Love Lucy
Red Skeleton
Adam's Family
The Munster's
The Andy Griffith show
Taxi
That 70's Show
Cheers
Friends
Happy Days
Big Bang Theory
Sheldon
Ghosts

Favorite Movies:
Fried Green Tomatoes
Color Purple
Steel Magnolias
Beverly hill Cops
Men in Black
Lethal Weapon

So many more, but that's enough.

Hi HIH,
Great Idea!

It could help out as a suggestion thread too.

My problem is that I've been away 23 years. (TWENTY THREE YEARS? :confused2)
Plus, my titles are in ITALIAN!
Do you think I'm suitable for this thread??
:hysterical
I might be lacking in CULTURE!!

So, I'll have to do some stealing.
Don't tell anyone...

1. The Proposal
2. Anything with Sandra Bullock
3. Johnny Stecchino ,,, stecchino means toothpick. Better in Italian.
4. Seinfeld
5. Cheers
6. The Simpsons
7. Two Week Notice
8. Mrs. Doubtfire
9. Welcome to the South

Nuff for now.

I was thinking of you when I posted about two Roberto Benigni's films in Post #3, including that one. :)

And since you are aware of him (as I suspected you might be), now you gotta tell me if any of his other movies were good as well. The down side is they may be too expensive to afford on DVD in America now. I went looking for Johnny Toothpick just yesterday, but it's like $65 now for a DVD new. Life Is Beautiful is still normally priced, though, so at least I can buy that, and probably will soon. :)

Life Is Beautiful is about the Nazi camps.
I find those movies to be unwatchable, but this one is different and I made it through.
This one is his capolavoro, masterpiece. I knew when I watched it that he'd never make another.

He recited Dante s Inferno by memory!
Italians love and respect him.

Yeah. Get it.
Did you see THE BOY WITH THE STRIPED PAJAMAS. Underrated. Very good story/theme.
