I like westerns a lot. But lately the Lord has impressed upon me that it is not good to watch violent movies or movies that represent sin in any way. Not even for entertainment. He said it's better to watch documentaries and movies and shows which do not represent sin or evil in any way, and that the reason it is not good for us to watch them is that he created the people that are in the movies and he must watch what I watch through me and it grieves him to see his creation having vile and evil things done to them. It hurts Him. Even if it's just a movie and not real because it turns mens hearts to evil and away from him. Movies affect us more than we realize and part of what He meant when He said diligently guard your heart is by the things we watch.
Whoa. I almost fell off the chair. I don't like a lot of the new movies and so watch stuff on youtube quite often. I usually watch a couple episodes of The Rifleman every day. It seems like a good show. But I think there's only one or two episodes where he doesn't kill someone. I haven't watched it since. My apologies if this brings rain onto what is obviously a light hearted thread, but the Lord did teach this to me very recently so I thought I'd share.
Maybe based on the life of Jim Thorpe if about American Indians. Will be checking out The World's Fastest Indian.

Everything we see becomes a part of us.
I like scary movies. NOT violent scary moves or bloody scary movies.
There are some that are very well done and have a high standards. With very serious actors. I'm not sure even these should be watched since they have an element of the evil one running through them. An example would be The Others.
It's rather horrifying to me to hear that parents, these days, will let their kids watch movies I wouldn't want to see! Absolutely everything has an effect on us and we should be very careful what Young kids see. It does harden the heart.
Thanks for sharing. That's what we're here for.
P.S. I think I better say that Drama is my favorite genre.
But I loved The Matrix.
Try to see The 13th Floor...you'd like that too.
Don't forget "Back to the Future".

1962’s The Manchurian Candidate (B&W) was intense with my wife asking WHAT??? in unbelief at its ending.
1976’s Logan’s Run, a movie of the future when all were required to die at 30 was great.
