The first snow of the season

The Lord makes everything beautiful... The trees are glistening the barn roofs appear perfect God's mountains are so majestic. The quail are leaving sweet little foot prints... I will enjoy the first snow Thank You Lord!

We're due to get our first snow this weekend. It's amazing because all the grass is as green as springtime out there, and yet we're going to have snow.

I love the first snowy morning as well. I love all snow between now and Christmas.

After than....not so much! :lol

Grab yourself a hot cup of coffee or tea and enjoy, Reba!

W had our first snow last week her in NW Pennsylvania. Got about two inches, but only lasted half the day before it melted. I love the first snow and Christmas snow and then it can all go away:wave

Less than a 1/4 mile behind the house the mountains jet up a good 4000 feet. They are so beautiful. To the east about 6 miles are the smaller mountains of Nevada. The views or vistas here are to His glory....

We have rolling hills here in Pennsylvania that are very scenic, but nothing compared to the majestic mountains of Colorado or Montana, which someday I will go there just to bath in their glory. As you can tell I'm a mountain person and not so much a beach person.

He gave us so much to see... Plus he changes it all with the seasons!

We have the gold aspens that look like fire spotted through the evergreens. The dessert with is beautiful tiny wild flowers... The smell of the sage Then the glistening beauty of the first snow...

I would love to see the whole of the New England area. All the colours. FHG we are so blessed...

:lol I have to laugh at this. When I lived in North Carolina, a group of us decided to take a trip to the mountains for the day. So, we're driving along and I'm looking for mountains. Looking...looking...We stop and do some hiking at Pilot Mountain and then go to Mount Airy, which is more famously known as "Mayberry" from the Andy Griffith show. Lots of fun, but I'm still looking for mountains. Finally I ask, "How long will it be before we get into the mountains" and my friends all look at me like I had just sprouted a third ear. Finally my friend Barbara says..."We are in the mountains." :oops

Mountains in North Carolina sure are a lot smaller than out here in the Rockies or in the Sierras.

I'll make you a deal, f-h-g...you come out west and I'll take you to some real mountains, and then I'll come back there some Fall and you can take me to see the glorious colors of autumn...we don't get the colors here like you do back there. Not enough deciduous forests. I do love the aspen though.

it seldom or very rarely snows in florida. and i dont miss snow. its one thing to be in a house looking that evil and vile white stuff. another to run in it. sleep in it and also to eat in it.

no thanks.

Funny this should be posted today as we had our first real snow fall of the season (had one minor one a week or two ago but no accumulation).

This was my commute to work:

What took 18-20 minutes yesterday took an hour and 6 minutes today. For all the snow and long winters we have, it always amazes me how people drive like it's summer for the first few snowfalls. :bigfrown

From the local news: "According to police, since midnight, there were 324 non-injury collisions and 33 injury accidents."

30" yup! We got just over two feet at my house. The problem is that (and as any snow lover knows) snow gets compounded over time so even though it may only measure in at like 24" it's really 30" because that extra 6" was compacted from weight.

And yeah we got people in town without power still. My friend won't get her power back until at least the 19th! :eeeekkk

My city averages about 50" per year, according to Wiki anyway. That seems excessive to me.

snow is of the devil and summer is from heaven.

30 inches is alot. meanwhile we havent dropped below 50F yet.

Heard a weatherman guess that we will get 200" this winter.....we have a few inches on the ground now.....I sure hope it is 20" and not 200".....the deer and pheasants are already really hurting from the last 3 winters. We need a nice mild winter....plus I don't care to snowblow my driveway 50 times like I did last winter.:bigfrown

Wow nacho, that's pretty brutal.

In Michigan we're the opposite. We have so many deer the habitat can't support them all through the winter. As a result, you can get 2 doe tags a day, every day until the season ends as an effort to regulate a the herd. Otherwise a lot of them will starve this winter and die, and that leads to an unhealthy herd.
