Growth Food Kitchens Make A Difference

Three years ago, I and a close friend led an outreach ministry for our small congregation of establishing a community food kitchen to serve warm, freshly made, full meals every Saturday. We've been blessed to have great cooperation with local professional chefs, and volunteers from other local churches and synagogues. The time spent each Saturday has become an opportunity for the sharing of fellowship as much as for the warm meals for folks having a little trouble making things work in this economy.

Even this small effort has been rewarding, blessing all of us to serve, and share in, more than 21,000 individual meals to date.

It is hard for the soul to hear over the grumbles in the belly... blessings to you Mike and those with you

I know God is blessing the efforts you and the community are making as such an impact on those who need help. I also pray many souls will come to know Christ Jesus through those efforts. God bless you as you always remain a faithful servant to the Lord.

Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

jews worked with Christians? interesting.

We decided early on that it was going to be for service to the poor, not necessarily for evangelism. One of our best chefs, in fact, is a Jew from Beth Hillel synagogue that's practically right across the street from our church. He heads what they refer to as their "world-famous Brotherhood kitchen crew."

ok, so how do insert the gospel?im leary of that, often it would mean the gospel isn't spread.

"Preach the Gospel always, use words if necessary." Service to the needy and feeding the hungry is what the Gospel calls us to do.
