Fourth of July

So, what are some traditions you grew up doing around the fourth?

As a kid i remember always getting sparklers and doing playing around with pop rocks late at night. I grew up in the country where there was no parade or firework show.

Now I currently go to the parade(which I have to be in for work) and then go to the firework show at night. We go to my church and eat cheesecake or something similar. Hosted by the associate pastor(old youth pastor) and our new youth pastor.

Eat hotdogs and hamburgers and BBQ stuff and go to the fireworks. Sometimes we go to the parade.
I also like to wear a patriotic T-shirt on the 4th. Today I've got one with a flag on it and the pledge of allegiance.

What I really enjoyed about this Fourth of July was gathering with my church and praying for the country. Take a look at the last verse of My Country Tis of Thee, and you'll see a prayer that needs to be utters a bit more from our churches.

Usually we just do what we can to let off some fireworks with the family. Probably some good food before that. But this year because of the insane heatwave pretty much every county in the state banned fireworks that weren't set of professionally and with firecrews standing by. They put the new day for the fireworks to labor day. This year anyway.

Late to mention this, but I wanted to mention that my Bible study group had a float in this year's Independence Day parade. We got to pass out candy and flyers about our Bible study. Fun.:)
(The Bible study is hosted by one of the Christian radio stations in my area.)

Wow, that sounds like fun. I noticed your location was south east GA. I'm guessing your around the island side of the state?
