Girl 9 Kills With A Uzi

He is an instructor? :shame He was an idiot ... That poor child will live with this for ever .... Lord Lord where were her idiot parents.

Wow. Over confident instructor. I always stood directly behind my kids when I was teaching them to shoot. Proper forethought and preparation is needed. I have a video of one of my sons taking his first shot with a Glock 45. It recoiled out of his hands and he caught it in his arms. Looks pretty dramatic but was safe because I had only loaded one round into it.

This guy should have only loaded a couple rounds into it and progressively load more for her. So she could get used to it. She's big enough to handle it, just needs to learn proper technique. Sad story.

Her parents were right there behind her.

just out of curiousity, why would a parent that has any knowledge of automatic firearms allow her to shoot a firearm that one has to lean in and pull down to shoot? the uzi is said to shoot up as it fires in auto.

Because there is no safety in ignorance and it is a good skill to have. They had good instincts in wanting to teach the girl, they just had a bad instructor. Not their fault really. He's supposed to be a professional.

there might be safety in some ignorance Edward, like for instance, if there's a small neutron bomb in the middle of your town, and you have been taught how to disarm one, and they call you to disarm it in time,
and you're not quite in time,
BOOM!
but if you didn't know how , were never taught how to disarm one, then instead of heading TOWARD it,
you could hop in your lear jet and GET AWAY in time to live, ... ... ... perhaps.... :)

(how many drains will THAT clear up?!)

There goes the human factor again, the instructor was not thinking. But this is a job where you should be thinking at all times. Just like you never hear about a butcher cutting of his fingers.

Farmers and hunters have been training their sons to handle firearms for hundreds of years.
There's been mishaps and deaths, but it can happen no matter how well someone is prepared - 'accident'.
Experts in the military with 3 safeties and 2 backups on their icbms , or 2 veteran hunters in the woods, or a couple astronauts in a spaceship trying to put the pin back in the hand grenade..... the outcome rests in Yhwh, not with men.

Accidents will happen. I doubt they happen any more today than ever before. We just hear about more of them today because of all the information technology so many of us have at our fingertips. I agree, this is the result of the instructor making mistakes. We all get careless at times in any task once we are accustomed to doing it and it seems to become 2nd nature to us. Sadly, sometimes that carelessness can cost a life, whether it's carelessness around guns, while driving a car, using a power tool in the garage, or a multitude of other things we all do every day. It's good we have reminders like this to remind all of us to continue being careful in all that we do!

I can see a handgun or a rifle even a shotgun. But a Uzi ? Good thing they did not give her one of these to shoot .
The most powerful handgun in the world!

at the right age, the army has a new shotgun. it must be zeroed. it has a 9.5 inch barrel. surely wouldn't hand that over to this 9 year old.

Well yeah, but that's an extreme situation. For everyday practical life, knowledge is power. Even in a household where the parents don't like guns, the children should still be taught gun safety. At some point, the kids will go to their friends house while their parents are gone, and the other kid will pull out his dads loaded gun from the sock drawer or wherever. The kids have to know how to react in such a situation. Simply keeping the kids away from and ignorant about guns wont keep them safe in todays world. Guns are all over the place.

I see the same with an uzi. my wifes cousin has fully automatic german ww2 weapondry. I wouldn't let a kid to small to handle them fire them. I have shot blanks from his mg42. its has a recoil and while I was holding it up to test shoot it still had a recoil.

An Uzi is only a 9mm brother. Practically a kids round because of the low recoil. In semi auto mode at least, lol. Why did he let kids rip with it? Stupid. Full autos are all about short bursts for effective use.

auto matics are for suppression and NOT accuracy. the army made a mistake when they went to three round burst with the m16a2. the m4a2 will be fully auto. I have shot the m16a1. its recoil is so low that you can place it on your groin and fire and it wont harm you. seen it done.

Oh, full auto weapons are overblown. This was all about poor training and not about the suitablitity of a 9mm FA for a kid. With progressive training a 9mm Uzi could be very effectively used by a 9 year old. It's heavy and has low recoil. Just an idiot instructor.

Right. Recoil so low that a 9 year year old kid could handle it...IF properly trained.

the army's automatic m1911a1 was said to be low recoil for a .45. the m16 series round is but a 22 round yet it does have an issue of lifiting off the ground while being fired. you have to pull the barrel in and it has to be held in a bipod , just like the m60, saw etc
