I would never believe what is presented on a JW site.
The links definately show that JW's seem to like this translation, don't they? But what does that mean other than they find it to be a good translation? Are you saying that anything the JW's like should be immediately rejected by christians just because they like it? What if the site said God created the Heavens and the Earth in 6 days? What if the site said Jesus was born in Bethleham? Get the point? We can't use blanket reasoning and throw out the baby with the bath water when we encounter a couple issues because if we do then there is nothing we would be able to hold on to because nothing in this world is error free. Let's not be the liberal that ignores everything on Fox News because it's a more conservative news outlet.
Don't get me wrong, the JW's definately teach some error, but what sect does not? We've got to be able to have enough to discerment to where we can see the good and separate it from the error. JW's claim Jesus pre-existed as the Chief Messenger (Arch-Angel Michael), they tend to emphasize keeping the Law, and they say that we live in the last days and have predicted multiple end of the world scenarios that have been wrong. So a total buy in to their line of doctrine is foolish. (as would a total buy into any of the 1000s of man made religions loosely produced from the Bible). However, they do teach some things that line up more accurately with the Bible than what is taught by other sects.
Jesus was God come in the flesh.
As far as this is concerned, I honestly don't know the answer. A couple years ago I would've declared this to be the case without batting an eye, but after looking into this conclusion more deeply I am less inclined to say that is what the Bible teaches. The Greek word "logos" in John 1 and in 1st John presents a challenge.
Looking at the totality of the scriptures I believe multiple reasonable conclusions can be drawn about Jesus' nature. One is that He was the embodiment of God that took up a human tent and dwelt among us. Another is that He was always fully God and is equal to the Father in deity. A third is that Jesus was the embodiment of God's creative purpose as He was able to NOT fall short of God's glory as Adam had and because of that has been given the reign to the Kingdom of God. There is simply not enough info given for me to be dogmatic about either possibility and to dismiss the others.
most groups churches sects get some things wrong on this we can agree... JW do not believe Jesus is who HE is and teach accordingly . It is a fine line you are walking in light of Scripture and secondly the TOS.
