Government listening in on our Skype conversations

Originally, government was concerned because there was no way to tap into Skype conversations. Now, enter the Savior Microsoft who buys this up --- maybe to create such a back door?

Ya know, the more I listen to my crazy theories such as Microsoft is spying on people, or Microsoft gets viruses by design, or Microsoft is working with the Government, etc. I suddenly realize that these crazy theories, well, are not so crazy any longer!

I wouldn't put it past them. The government has a lot more power than people realize. People don't want to see it happening and I don't blame them. It sucks that they have invaded our privacy. What a place America is becoming. Seriously though. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Well, it's definitely possible. They tap into phone conversations.
Technology is a blessing and a curse.

I'm curious to see how this will fare with Linux. If Microsoft can't put such a back door on it that would work with Linux, I would not be surprised if you suddenly see that disappear for that OS. I don't have that on my Linux system here. I have it on the one and only one Microsoft computer and absolutely hate it as I get spontaneous resetting of the computer, freezing up, dropped calls and videos, etc etc. So I haven't used it in a long time. But that sounds about right for Microsoft. :lol

What if i do talk foreign language? Probably they'll hire a translator, lol. It's crazy.

What if you were talking about a video game, like Call of Duty. Let's say that you've got a friend over and you've been talking hours and hours about how did you succeed in that shooting game. Your friend is interested in but he has to go home so he says keep talking me on the phone. Of course your friend and you would know the subject but when the man is talking like "...I shot him twice and he died then I attempted to kill more but I failed and I left the game" Would the government start an investigation because the government doesn't know it's about a game. The government only listens the phone call, not face to face talking, well I don't know probably they do that too! Did you get it? :D

Apart from the fact that I"m not in the US, I'm not doing or saying anything illegal in my Skype calls, so whatever. :shrug

What are you talking about is resetting the pc, freezing up, etc. Do you mean skype? Or do you mean Linux? I have recently been interested in getting Linux but I don't need those kinds of problems if it does that.

It's the Microsoft computer freezing up as I still have XP Pro and despite the updates, "it's getting old and slow". The Processor speed and RAM is not up to snuff (1.5GB), so don't be afraid to get Linux.

What I had in mind about Linux and Skype was that I don't see how Microsoft could design anything to back door a Linux system, so they simply would not support it for Linux. Probably you'd see a Linux version (I think they already have one) instead, but I'm not really a skyper so I'm not sure.

One thing with Linux is that it's a multi-user OS, i.e several people can log on. Microsoft is not multi-user. The reason I bring this up is that Linux (Unix) is designed to keep the user accounts separate from each other, like a separate computer so that one's work does not interfere with the other. In other words, the root directory is accessed (like a download) for the OS system files but can't be changed by a user. However, that's the level anyone using skype or the Internet is on and thus back doors, malware or anything else the government creates can't easily get thru to one's Linux PC because it can't get to the root directory. This would both infuriate and frustrate them which makes me laugh :lol and as such makes my day.

Have you tried using a good utility program to clean up your registry and other parts of your system? That can also help speed up your computer.

I have a freeware registry cleaner but I'm not willing to dish out any more money for their OS. Same with defragging programs. I want a computer that does not slow up over time. Certainly that is not the case with this one. I did not add anything purposely to the registry to slow things up.

I hate Mircrosoft, I get frustrated with it freezing up all the time.

Just spend 2 hours every six month formating the drives and reinstalling... Your friends and neighbors will be amazed that your 3 year old computer runs faster than their one year old 'hotrod'. Oh, and no stupid software to slow your machine down!

Good afternoon,

You know, Corrie Ten Boom, when she went to the USSR, I think, was being monitored in the room she was staying at because she recognized a hidden listening device. What did she do? She read her Bible out loud so they could hear it. lol.
