Grammar and this Generation

Nope...haven't read all three pages but unabashedly chiming in anyway...if anyone has made these points all ready...why then it's true that great minds think alike! :-)

First: "As a whole, does this younger generation not value and practice proper English in the written word?"

Wherefore dost thou sayest "proper English" Goodman Mike? Is yet tis we speak forthwith or as was spake by our forefathers? Cans't possibly be, that we have oft mangled the tongue of which you speak? Is this dire happenstance a ruse by our youth or but a tempest in a pot of tea? ;)

Second: "I see this coming in real life... As in: many use (as soon as possible) ASAP as a word. Many use night or nite, lite or light inter changeably . I think Mike's concern is right on. The proper written word is going the way of penmanship. "

night = nite

light = lite :chin

colour = color

"chequer" = checker

"as soon as possible" = ASAP :chin

"all is right" = alright

"to the morwe" (to the morning) = tomorrow

"God be with ye" = Goodbye

:lol

Danus, I have no idea what a picture of Meryl Streep is supposed to suggest, so I'm not mad! It doesn't make me mad enough to stick something in the grass so if you drive over our property border, you get whacked somehow. I know this doesn't make sense to others who are reading, but I know you understand. :p

:-) it's a character she played who was hung up on "proper grammar". However, I was afraid you might reference me for the yard freak I am, so I guess we're even. :lol...Speaking of which, the season of lawn border wars is about to begin.
