Their are many warnings in the Bible about giving in to greed and longing for riches.Luke 12:15,Matthew 6:19 and 24.
Did Jesus pursue the acquisition of money?N:ermn the contrary,he became poor for our sake 2 Corinthians 8:9 and had "no place to lay his head" Matthew 8:20.The only disciple concerned with wealth was Judas, who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieced of silver.
It is the love of money, and not money itself, that is a problem. The love of money is a sin because it gets in the way of worshipping God.When the rich young ruler asked Jesus what he should do to inherit eternal life,Jesus told him to sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor."When the young man heard this,he went away sad, because he had great wealth Matthew 19:16-22;Luke 10:17-31.By instructing him to give up his money,Jesus pointed out the young mans main problem: greed.
People are more likely go cry out to God when they are in need than when they have plenty."But seek first [God's] kingdom and his righteousness, and all things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:25-34.

Greed has existed for centuries. Nothing new here. Every other emotion, such as the desire for power, envy, hatred, etc., all blend together as a part of greed. But greed has always been the bottom line. Whether it's land or possession, greed has prompted many a person to seek that which doesn't belong to one...yet.

Like 'they' say: The man who dies with the most toys... still is dead.

I've known & have been friends with people from all economic backgrounds. There are Christians in all economic levels just as there are non-Christians in those same economic levels.

Unliked what I have often heard "Those with the most toys...win".

I've heard that one as well, but typically, it was spoken by a greedy person :rofl2

greed , while bad, is a matter of perspective.

to the poor in Africa, all americans are greedy.

I worked with a lady once who was from Africa. She had a very heavy accent,so much so that she did not stay on the job long because people had a very difficult time understanding what she said. She would say that Americans are spoiled. She said where she was from in Africa they did not have soap to bath, any of the conveniences that Amercans have. She said that Americans took their wealth for granted.Maybe so.

We must take care not to get hung up on money alone when it comes to exposing greed. Greed takes on many forms.
Greed is the underlying theme behind many of the Ten Commandments.
Thou shall have no other gods.
Thou shalt not murder.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not give false witness.
Thou shalt not covet.

It is not a sin to have money. It just depends on what we do with it and where our heart is in regards to that money.

This is true. Job and Solomon come to mind. Money can so easily become an idol.
