HAPPY EASTER!

Veal is raised to approximately 500-600 lbs before it goes to the butcher...
That little guy in your picture won't make a decent mouthful.
Milk-fed lamb is also used for food.
They are so mal-nourished that they can hardly stand up.

This is not a salvation issue so I won't say too much on it!!!
LOL

I just can't stand to think I'm eating a small animal....
I'm not sure we should be eating any animal....
I tried becoming a vegetarian once, long ago, but it didn't work out.

We all have our ideas.

I've never had milk fed spring lamb before. Hadn't heard of it till you mentioned it.

I'm not doubting it... just never heard of it.
I'm sure that it is extremely expensive.

BTW...

People Eating Tasty Animals

Bacon burgers, chicken, BBQ pig, ham, pot roast, steaks, lions, tigers, bears, sheep, goats, venison, fish, and waterfowl.

All is good.

Yes. Tiny little lamb chops.
I really can't think of it.
Any baby animal should be left to grow up.

Just how I feel about it. I'm not an activist or anything.

I've eaten horse meat, alligator meat, ostrich and wild boar.
Had wild boar with polenta just a couple of weeks ago.
It has to be marinated for at least 2 or 3 days.
It has a unique taste and is loved by all over here.
I find horse meat to be rather tough and not worth buying.
Alligator meat has to be made in special ways... chopped up, for instance.
Can't remember the ostrich....not a good sign!

I'm going to go ahead and watch the video because what I just heard about how veal cows are treated sounds even worse than eating their babies and totally inhumane!! :angry3

Oh John.
It's from the American Veal Association.
And these little animals are for raising.
Cows do start out as babies.

Take a look at this instead....
This is what goes on...at least the last time I checked.

The faint of heart should not watch this...

I've bought a lot of veal...
The chops are usually huge. (Ribeye on the bone)
I only served one for dinner.

Cutlets are made from round, Chuck, knuckle or brisket and then pounded to thin.

Please tell me that not all calves are treated this way. I feel awful for enjoying milk, yogurt, ice cream, and cottage cheese now. :crying

I never had any of those and I would never want to either. Especially horse as they're such beautiful creatures. :)

All calves are taken from their mothers, it's cruel.
The males become veal and the females become dairy cows.

That's why i don't do veal anymore

Yeah, but I'm sure that most places probably treat their calves nicely then and give them milk from bottles. I can't believe that all of them would treat them this horrendous. :(

There's a machine with a silacone teat with pumps forcing a lot of milk down the tubes when the veal comes to it and begins to feed.

It's not pasteurized or homogenized either... LOL
