[__ Prayer __] hard routes

They always estimated high during those months. Because of their practices, I chose to do their average billing program. I paid the same amount each month for a year. Then they would recalculate and a new rate established for the next year.
fpl does that, its to save money during the peak seasons. we have them thar smart meters for that problem. I refuse to allow them to control my appliances. 15 minutes of hot water a day for two?!

The levelized plans offered here do not place limits on how much electricity and/or natural gas (or water, for that matter) I use per month. The company bases the following year's levelized bill plan on the previous 12 months; they add up the amounts per monthly bill, divide by 12, and that's the new monthly bill for the next 12 months.

I really couldn't imagine having only 15 minutes of hot water a day for two! That just wouldn't work out.

no that is a smart meter deal, with a rebate for allowing them to control your appliances. the leveling out deal was around before the smart meter was installed.

There is talk about a smart meter in my area ... hopefully, it won't go forward. I really don't care for the idea of someone else deciding just how much of any utility I use. I conserve as I can, but 15 minutes of hot water just wouldn't make me a happy camper.

I have a smart meter I don't have that on my home for controlling my usage. that is an option. if I didn't I would pay more for having and old cyclometer, dial gauge and other digital meter.i can still see the read from the the display. while my meter doesn't read demand it does have the option for that to be activated.

What is the average life span for older meters? I'm just curious to see if there is a true need to update, or if it's merely a way for the utility companies to up the rates they can charge each customer.

they don't make them any more and its more costly for the analog. 30 bucks a meter verse 3 dollars.we have meters that are 40 years old. they do stop, I have seen one do that and saw the lights on the house.if a load is the rotor will spin. the analog use power to work.that is why digital is better is it monitors and doesn't use much power since its sold state.

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. Frankly, I hadn't really considered the meters, so the info you've provided is very helpful.

Thanks :wave2

I'd say you definitely have a life if you've been able to pick up information along the way, and have been able to retain that knowledge over time! Takes a life to be able to do that!

actually its from a small town. the meter shop guys know me and i asked them why they replaced them with digitals and the cost of doing such. i know one of them from my hobby, another from school and one more from his part time job. the smart meter stuff is from asking and looking what they are up so that i know. i do get asked by customers why i must read if they think the digitals are smart meters. i also dropped about 4 meters once and i thought that i would be written up. when i worked in fleet maintance i opend the side door of a meter shop van and four of those meters fell on my foot , all broke their glass and that was some thick glass. if i didn't have work boots with steel toes. i may have lost a few toes that day.it want my fault in that the meters shifted on the floor and broke when the moved near the door. tom wasn't mad that it happened as he said it was his fault.

Glad you had steel toed boots on when those meters fell out of the van. Otherwise, you would have left unusual footprints on the sandy beach.

triple post. yes, i wasn't too happy that i was going to get wrote up, but my boss then and tom were cool about it.

(don't know why those triple posts occur .... a challenge when they happen, tho)

Also glad your boss then & Tom were both cool about it

art, has been deployed. his unit is doing a mission. that is all i know.
