Have you been in the army?

3months, not much...

So do you have the option of staying in longer, maybe, and to learn a trade, etc., or make a career of the army?

Mandatory military service is 6 months here but 40% will be chosen to NCO so mandatory service changes to 12 months. After that you can easily have a career in the army but if you sign up for a career, you're going to be a trainer and by that you can gain up higher rank and so on.

I see; so those that flunk it, can get out more quickly.

So is a more permanent career in the army something that you yourself might consider?

Blessings.

no, I do not want a permanent career, I wanted to sign up for NCO but I wasn't chosen because my legs had this stress fracture, now I'm 6 month men there and it doesn't matter much, i'm glad i'm only six month men because around january (when i'm already in home) temperature might go -40celsius.. it's cold..

aswell you can sign up for a peacekeeper and travel to middle-east

Interesting.

Hope your leg will be okay.

Some UN peacekeeping contingents seem more to be in the business of 'peace enforcement' rather than peacekeeping, strictly speaking. I guess there must be appropriate Finnish euphemisms to describe the diplmomatic nuances and tiptoeing that must go on in the wake of Mr Ahtisaari's various travels around the world.

Not the army. I served 6 years in the U.S. Navy. I enjoyed it, but at the end of 6 years, it was time to do something else.

4 years was the minimum tour in the navy. I chose 6 years for the schools I wanted. I worked in electronics in the service, and for a few years back in civilian life, but later went on get an MBA when we started our family.

I never regreted the time I spent in the navy, but I do regret losing a few friends in the war. My best friend in high school died in Vietnam at age 20. That was 45 years ago...I still miss him. I mourn the fact we didn't get to know each other as adults.

whimps, lol. I have been in the army for three years on active duty status, did a tour in Afghanistan and have time in the army national guard. a total of 22 years. peace keeping that is what the us army is well being used for. watch the navy's and marine's recruitment ads. its
Global Force for Good
for the navy. the marines have ads that talk about you stopping bullies in school and also you can be a helper for those under oppression. The army is still using the
army strong
motto

2 years, Romanian Navy -during the communist times military service was mandatory.
Hated every minute of it, two wasted years I will never get back.
Nowadays they have a professional paid military to comply with the NATO standards.

Does Nicu Ceausescu still get involved in military exercises?

I was denied of going to the army because of my criminal record. If I had tried in the post 9/11 era maybe I could have. I'm glad I didn't go. I would have never had the life I have now.
