My name is Richard Hansen... I have been born of the Lord's spirit for 8 years now... I was incarcerated when he reconciled my soul unto himself in 2002... I was a drug addict, a complete wreck... I remember the very day that I was called to repentance and placed faith (that not of myself, a gift of God) upon the witness and testimony of God's salvation. To put it in the simplest terms, I was born again, the old man that I was being buried in christ that I may be resurrected in him, life anew.

My greatest concern nowadays is the lack of the very same message that I received(full of hope and truth, convicting and reconciling) being given within the churches. What happened to the simple gospel being given? Instead I find lectures on in depth studies of scripture, or worse yet, principles on financial security or government politics being given every sunday. What would a new comer to the church receive on any given sunday with that form of worship being practiced? Not christ crucified and resurrected, not conviction, not God's mercy, not hope, not salvation.

This is my concern... I am so grieved and laden with a burden for those who do not know the Lord, just knowing that our churches are not preaching christ (what Jesus truly represents, why He came).

Please help me see or know that I am not the only one noticing this...

Welcome mues :waving

I hope you get involved! :thumbsup

This would be a good thread to start in "Christian Talk & Advice". For the most part, we simply welcome new members here. :)

Welcome mues747. I have been on the inside also. Although I was not Born Again until after I was back outside. But that was just part of his plan for me. I share your concern with today's churches. I suspect because most think they are not sinners, or they perceive that their sin is less, that they do not need to revere in the Gospel.

But like Mike said these threads are basically just for saying welcome to the Forums, so "Welcome to the Forums."
