So, how to introduce myself?

I'm a Christian, though I can't claim to be of any particular flavor of Christian: close to baptist, though I really can't see cessationism having much biblical support; marginally charismatic, but also think that charismatics have destroyed their credibility with all their bizarre antics and false prophecies; respect the Reformed, but think the tulip has some bad petals. So, I'm a Christian--I believe that Christ died for my sins, that I am saved by grace through faith and no works of my own can help in any way.

I spent some time with a certain mission group a couple of decades ago. Nowadays, I work a normal job and do some writing, including some song writing. These are things I may get more into later and in other parts of the forum.

So, hello. In very broad strokes, this is an incomplete summary of who I am.

Blessings in Christ, Bramblewild!

Yeah, I was once Baptist myself, and I enjoyed my time with them. Made a lot of good friends. But I couldn't quite share the same beliefs either. Almost got a MA in Theology from New Orleans Theological Seminary and was going to go into pastoring in a Baptist church. But I was just too strongly charismatic to think it would truly work and I still am.

And yes, you are right that Charismatics (the more superficial ones) have done more to destroy their credibility than build it, but such is life. I just keep my nose to the grindstone every day and try and do my best to set a better example.

Thank you for the introduction, and you sound like you would make a good addition. This is a more warm forum than most, and we work to try and keep things civil. If you should need any assistance, please do not be afraid to ask.

Blessings,
Hidden In Him

Hi bramblewild and welcome to CF :wave2

I do not brand myself by calling me anything other than a Spiritually born again child of God. We are all called to be servants of the Lord and take His word out into the world and have been doing this for about 25 years. We could never exhaust the word of God in what He wants to teach us. Looking forward to getting to know you and sharing with each other.

God bless :)
